May everything go your way. I dipped and chewed for 20 years (high school football and baseball coach). My wife could not stand it, I never chewed in the house if she was home. Put it down 20 years ago and have never looked back. Go for it. Jack

stevea wrote:Little story about my dipping, quiting and chewing. About 12 years ago i had a can a day habit, loved it. My wife (x now) was a dental hygentist, she was constantly griping( b..ching) about it, so I decided i would quit. I had quit for about 6 months and was doing good then hunting season rolled around, I found it impossible to sit in a blind with out a dip. I was in the quickie mart one day and picked up a pouch of Lancaster and it was on like a chicken bone. I was like a drug addict hideing it, would sneak a cup upstairs just to keep it under the radar so I wouldnt have to listen to the magpie b..ch. The only persons that knew was a couple of close friends and my wonderful hunting buddy (my son). Well he had brought home a bad report card and I had grounded him till he got his grades up (no camping, 4 wheeler, computer games etc.). I was sitting upstairs in the den watching tv with my mouth full of lancaster and my cup well hidden and in walks my son, he said dad i'll make a deal with you, I said ok son what cha got? he says how bout you take me off being grounded and I won't tell mom you started back dipping. I said I tell you what, how bout I go downstairs and tell your mom then I come back up here and beat your booty. He said "nevermind" I still need to quit, wish I could, but I just enjoy it so much!
Mr Adcock, that is a set of gonads right there! Way to "man up".

GOOD for ya. you can do it. I quit in 1993 with a 2 can a day habit. i started when i was in sixth grade skoal was 25 cents a can. and I do not have ANY cravings or desires for it today so for some they do go away completely. Hang in there

You are doing great, keep it up! I know that it is rough, but you have already come a long way.

I quit last may after 30 plus years. My wife is a Dentist so you can imagine the crap I caught about it. I chewed nicorette gum for about a month then weened myself off of it. I quit May 1 so its almost been a year. If you WANT to quit that is the biggest battle.

Yeah we crappie fished all day and my buddy chews levi Garrett, and I have never wanted it so bad in my life! He opened a fresh bag in the truck and I was like a shark with blood in my nostrils! Took everything in me to say no, even though its not snuff. Its still tobacco. He only teased me with it once or twice.... or heck 100 times, but I made it another day. :D

Ok, almost slipped today. Warm weather...My brother was fishing with me...there was cold beer involved...THANK GOD he left it in the truck, cause I asked for a dip and he said he didnt have it. We got back to the truck and I turned it down. Slowly but surely.

Gosh you 2 look just alike!
Keep it up man, your doing good and proud of ya! Dont get caught slippin becuase then you will give up and start doing it again. I'd say its easier to give it up now rather then in the duck blind. Just drink more beer when you get the feeling to have one

You can do it.....the thing to remember is....YOU HAVE TO WANT TO QUIT.

I quit when Buck was 5, put it down on his bday and left it for 4 years. Slipped up at camp last deer season and started back. I have never done crack but I would imagine trying just a little Copenhagen is pretty damn close put it back down a month age and will never touch it again.

Bottomland you have made it this far, do not slip once you do its not easy to stop it .............I know.

What has helped me with quitting smoking is postponing that first cigarette a little more every day. After that I spread the time between cigarettes more every day. You can try it with dipping. Just add half hour every day until you get the first dip. Then spread out the time between dips more every day. I added 30 minutes every day.
Monday I smoked at 0700 then every 2 hours
Tuesday 0730 and every 2 1/2 hours
Wednesday 0800 and every 3 hours
Thursday 0830 and every 3 1/2 hours
Today 0900 and every 4 hours

Good luck
