GH22,

Have you not been paying attention? Eli is NOT the first to do this. Let me repeat...N-O-T T-H-E F-I-R-S-T T-O D-O T-H-I-S.

If the Charges do draft him, it would not surprise me if he doesn't go ahead and play, but I doubt he would sign for more than a year or so with them. In that respect, why sign someone that: A) Does not want to play for you, B) Is only going to sign for two years then hit the free agency route.

Don't get me wrong, i like the manning family. Even had Archie's sister as a teacher in high school........
But, in the words of Tuff Hedeman, "Cowboy Up!"
if he wants to show that he has the capability of his brother and dad, he'll take this deal.
He wants respect in the NFL??? Then take a losing team and do somethin with it.
Like i said, i want to see him be successful, i just feel he should have to work for it like everybody else does. Vick had a major impact on atlanta with his legs. Eli could have an impact on the chargers with a great arm.

My two cents on the situation.

that's what peyton did. the colts hadn't had a winner in a while. he made the franchise.

If I'am not mistaken:
Chargers- AFC
Colts- AFC
Giants- NFC

How are we going to have a Manning Superbowl?

Dude........where did I ever say that Eli was the first to pull this BS?

You can't find it cause I never said it. All I'm saying is one person start that crap then the one's after him will do the same. He can't just sign for one yr, contract is a minimum of 3 yrs and in the recent yrs the contracts have been signed for no less than 7. I say let the Chargers draft him...........they aren't giving of that pick...........and let him sit out a yr if he wants.........I'm not so sure he can beat out Drew Brees for the starting job anyway.....

Ok, so you are saying that no one has ever asked not to be drafted by another team?

According to the ESPN guru's the Charge-less are picking Eli. They are willing to gamble him sitting out. The only thing that can keep Eli from going to the Charge-less would be a last second deal, but that is not looking to be the likely scenario. Giants will end up with Roethlisberger with their #4 pick. Now, do you think the Charge-less and the Giants will have an after pick trade? Guess only time will tell.

If Eli sits out that puts him in next year draft and the Charge-less could very well be picking first next year as well. Wonder if they would force their hand to prove their hardheadedness and pick him again.

OK - enough negative talk about Eli. For those of you that may be overlooking something...he is in the #1 slot for the NFL draft. Period. MSU vs. Ole Miss bs doesn't really matter anymore. Seems like everyone would wish the best for him...even if the dawgs had a horrible program last year. Too bad...so sad...he is still the #1 pick and he didn't get there by playing crappy ball.

BTW - John Elway did the same thing so this isn't a new issue. Played ball in some Yankee farm club and ended up in Denver (and consequently showed everyone what a wuss he was   (yeah right..))

Where in that sentence does it say that eli is the first to pull this crap??? I'm not seeing what you are seeing. The Chargers aren't giving up the pick, and they'll get Eli as they planned too........heck might as well......they intentionally lost all those games last season to get the coveted Manning.....   If Eli refuses to go the podium after the pick then so be it.........it'll be funny as hell to me.....

BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! Eli Sucks.....Eli Sucks.....Eli Sucks!!!!

Sounds like Eli is going to be traded to the Giants. It's a shame that his crew tipped their hand so early and gave the Chargers the ability to go public with the information and you know they did it to avoid the outrage from their fans. Looks like it will all work out but I think it has tarnished his reputation. Just my opinion!

How can it be tarnished? Maybe I missed something, but let's review Eli's NFL stats...0 completions, 0 attempts, 0 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions.
When and if Eli throws for a couple TD's in game, America won't remember what happened in the draft. First time he steps up to a line of scrimmage and doesn't like what he sees, changes the play, and the Giants score a touchdown....let's check the luster on young Manning then.
