Lots of different kind of squatting and deadlifts other than just the straight traditional movements. I am coming up on a year in Crossfit and I have seen tremendous strength and endurance gains, but I have been maintaining weight wise. I need to lose about 30lbs, so I have jsut started trying to really clean up my eating. It is not easy, but I can tell you that Crossfit alone will not get you to where you need to be. The workouts average about 18 minutes and I have not done the same one twice with the exception of some of the benchmark workouts. Diet is 80% of the game. I workout about 5-6 hours a week.......that leaves a lot of time in a week for a bad diet to work against you.

That and eating better will definitely do the job. No need to go crazy and hurt your joints. Start with those workouts on alternating days and eat out less. At your height and weight you'll probably lose a pound a week. Thats a healthy, safe weight loss plan. The main thing is to be patient and don't burn out.

Alot have mentioned eating and that is very true but make sure you also include what you drink in cleaning up your diet. Water is huge drink lots, if you drink a gatorade or powerade get the low cal kind and look at the serving size- drink only the serving size. Cokes, diet cokes, any of the soft drinks have either lots of sugars or sodium neither are good for you. Limit the amount of milk you take in on a daily basis. Salads can be great for you until you add the dressing, olive oil or vinegarette are great substitutes. These are the things I have been doing for some time now to help keep weight off and they work great once alot of the excess is cleared out of your body with drinking alot of water and keeping the sports drinks to a minimal you will in general start to feel better. Working out for me is not as easy working 12-15 hr days but i try to get a few miles in on my days off, not to mention Ill lug a 40lb backpack around all day up and down more steps than most men want to see in a day.

I usually drink around 60-80 ozs of water a day, but milk is my big issue. The bowl of frosted flakes and milk about 9pm is really good......but really bad.

It made me puke. It's tough for a fat boy like me at first but it gets better.

Can anyone explain me how drinking alot of water helps loose weight? I am just curious. I have leaned my diet up big time, no soft drinks, do an hour of cardio 3-4 days a week and the rest I do 30 mins and weights. I am at it hard and its paying off. Only downside is the weekends. I dont cheat much on my diet, but I do drink beers and mixed drinks...and thats not going to change.

It's been proven that it does not help lose weight by drinking it alone... however water is needed for protein synthesis and is a vital component of building muscle. The more lean muscle content you have the more calories your body will burn to maintain that lean muscle.

Personally I think it helps me from the extra calories burned from walking to and from the dang bathroom. 8-10 glasses a day feels like being on a road trip with my dad

This may not have any truth to it but the more water I drink the more unused material in your body you push through, I always feel sluggish and full the minute I drink a soft drink
