I read tons of reviews over at the Refuge, duckhunterchat, and mudmotortalk websites extensively before installing mine, and the general consensus is that this stuff is holding up very well. One guy who hunts close to 60 days a year out of his boat and it sits outside when not in use said it still looks great after over a year of abuse. I've only had mine out once for a couple hours, but I can tell you that it definitely will pay big dividends on a long day fishing where you're standing all day. It's soft, but durable feeling, and doesn't get scalding hot in the sun like bare metal does, so fishing barefoot in my boat will be perfectly fine in 90 degree weather. Plus the insulation from noise was noticeable. I can't recommend doing this enough. Definitely in my top 3 customization projects that cost about $100 to do to a boat (if not #1). It'll take a few hours if you want it to look as good as possible. Glue and everything ran me almost right at $100 (add and extra $25 because I screwed up once and had to buy an extra roll). I still have some small pieces left over that are about 2'x3' that I'll glue into my two dog kennels on the bottom unless I think of something better to do with them.

Google "sears hydro turf boat" and you'll find several forum posts related to people doing it on their boats. I have yet to find anyone who has been unhappy with it.

will this stuff just lay in the bottom of a boat?

I've got an old v hull that is my swamp boat I'd like to have something in the floor.

It will lay anywhere you glue it to.

With some Weldwood contact cement it will. It's extremely light and would blow away with a slight breeze. Think the weight of a yoga mat, or those cheap foam mats folks sleep on when camping.

Yea don't just lay it in. If you want something to lay in and be able to take out, get some conveyor belt or heavy rubber

why contact cement instead of liquid nails? I'm seriously worried about having to remove this stuff after a couple of years....do ya'll just glue the outside edges or the whole thing?

you can remove it.

just rip out what you can. you can strip up the glue and foam with a grinder and wire wheel.
