Well,....You do have a point !

I suppose M. Spurlock, "could possibly" be another T. Martin !

Point well taken !

No doubt, it will be fun to watch !
Ole Miss, tryin to stay on top with a new QB.
State, tryin to find, long lost respectability !
LSU, tryin to repeat as NC.
Alabama, tryin to prove they "picked the right HC" !
Auburn, tryin to figure out,... is Tuberville really a slime ball muther %&*@#&. :D and "WHY ARE HIS EARS SO BIG ? and "Was his daddy a Wingnut" ? :D

There,....now that should "draw some War Eagles out" !

Rip em and Meeka, thanks for the kudos, but don't take anything I say to the bank ---hey, what do I know?---I thought the Rebs were done last year after the Texas Tech game, until they rose from the dead vs Florida.

But, based upon watching the Rebs for many years, I think the Rebs have a good CHANCE to be a "better" overall team this year due to experience, size of OL/DL, and depth. I don't know if this will translate into more wins, expecially SEC wins, or a league title. The Rebs' 7-1 SEC record last year would have won the West every other year ----those danged Tigahs spoiled our party. That will be tough to duplicate. But, we will have a better, bigger, more talented defense and should have very good special teams. Although the offense will probably not put up the passing numbers put up with Eli at the helm, we should be a more balanced offense and different with Michael and/or Lane and/or Flatt under center ----we will be mixing in some option ---and Spurlock has the speed and athleticism to burn defenses with his running ability, both of which will be a new dimensions to the Reb offense. Will more balance/power football produce more points? Will improved defense mean we don't have to score as many points to win? We'll just have to wait and see. Its gonna be fun to watch. I'm optimistic. 8)

The Bulldog fans need to be patient with Croom. The emphasis on discipline, and the 4-3 defense will help put the program on a good solid foundation for the future. The West Coast offense may work with current personnel, and there may be enough talent at the skill positions for the Dogs to make some big plays. The quick drops of the QB in this offense will help mask the lack of depth, talent and experience on the OL. Maybe some of the young pups, after getting in proper shape (Croom has been working on this aspect), will step up and surprise. But, the OL is the most difficult offensive position, except for QB, for young freshmen and RS freshmen to excel. So, there will be some growing pains. The defense can only get better (really can't get any worse than last year). Just being in better shape will help ---the dogs were in most of the games last year until collapsing later in the second half. There are some really talented players starting for the defense (many of whom UM wanted badly). The dogs could surprise some folks, but I would not look for miracles too early in the season. Regardless of the number of wins, the biggest thing for Croom will be to extablish a new foundation for his program upon which he can build ---- success will likely have to be measured in this manner. The sanctions should be announced before season's end. Based upon what I have seen, it should be relatively mild (especially is you compare to what Bama got for much worse infractions). Whether State is bowl eligible this year or next, is not that big a deal. The big deal is first getting back to winning more than you lose. I agree with Don, the future does look bright for the dogs. 8)

Rip em, you are referring to my threatened "Dawg Talk in Dixie" series, in sarcastic response to some of the posts by GH 22 and the rest of the doggie pound. Maybe after the sanctions are announced (which hopefully will be mild), we might could bring this to fruition. Until then, it might seem like piling on. I have too many good friends who are bulldog fans to be pulling too hard on their leash. Some folks take this football stuff much too serious. I used to be one of them, until I entered a 12 step recovery program. I am currently at about step 7, having de-emphasized fall UM football ---not going to all the games, but instead going dove hunting, teal hunting, trout fishing, and attending blues fests on occasion. I am already feeling better and my blood pressure has gone down. I still have my moments of relapse (last year's Memphis game when my wife had to scold me for acting like a fool  ), but I hope to be fully recovered within the next five years and weaned down to just 2-3 home games a year.

Hey, RIP EM - remember, a lot of people didn't think Tennessee would do much once Peyton moved to Indianapolis. They only won a national title the next year.

same as USC last year, a year after losing Carson Palmer......

My thoughts on the posts above that Ole Miss can't be as good as last year because they don't have ELI are :

a. These posters presume that Ole Miss' defense will not be better this year; and
b. These posters presume that the only difference between Ole Miss' offense last year and this year is that Eli is gone.

Fact is that both the offense and defense will be better ON PAPER than last year in virtually every position, except QB.

The defense can reasonably be expected to be bigger, deeper, faster and more experienced than last year, with the added advantage of having fully adapted to the current defensive scheme. I do not believe there will be any 4th quarter massive breakdowns that cost us at least 2 wins last year, and almost another (South Carolina).

Because the D gave up considerable points, Eli's performance was more noticeable - He HAD to put up big points. I dont think the Offense will have to score as many points this year to win for this reason and because we will play keep-away better by running the ball.

The offense will be less Eli-like, but that does not mean any less effective. We have one of the largest, most experienced O-lines in the conference, if not the best. We should be expected to run the ball, even pound it this year. This equates to less pressure on the passing game by being able to rely on the run and by limiting T.O.P., thus points, for the other team. Throw in a potent run threat from the QB and a stong arm, and you don't need the heroics that only Eli can supply.

Yes, last year we came out on top in most close games and we probably could not have done it wiothout Eli. This year, you should expect fewer 35-34 games and more 21-20 games. Will Ole Miss win these games? We shall see.

It is a hell of a lot more fun argueing whether we will be as good as last years 10 win team than it is wondering if we will be better than last years 2win team!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Has GH22 given his infamous preseason analysis yet?

Dammit Boy.

BRB, he who laughs last, laughs the hardest. I plan to be laughing pretty hard the weekend of October 16 in Oxford. You think Phat Phil will even show up?

And what are you laughing about anyway? The mighty Salukis are not in contention for anything. Except maybe the bowling championship.
