No, it would not. Actually it would be more likely that the second car would see the front car's lights. If they are traveling at or faster than the speed of light, the front car car wouldn't see his own lights projected in front of the car, neither would the second car. The only possibility for light to be seen by either driver would be the second driver seeing the light from the front car as he passed them by, due to being faster than the speed of light.
so i'm still asking... how do you tell direction in space... ?
It may be possible that there is no "direction" in space, i.e. north, south east, west, only vectors. The only possibly stable thing to constantly measure a direction from (in degrees or whatever) would be the ship itself, which itself is in motion and at any given moment may be skewed from it's previous position, which would throw off any calculation of direction. I guess that's why there is no autopilot on a space craft, no way for the computer to judge direction. That and the fact that it's probably way cool to fly one so there's no need for autopilot.

i stated earlier that i thought the front car would see the rear car's headlights.
yes i think he would see your lights. space is a vacuum which means there is no resistance. in this vacuum if you and a friend were both going 100 mph(earth time), him in front of you, and you throw a baseball towards him, it would catch him b/c there is no resistance in space, the baseball would travel the speed you threw it plus the speed that your traveling. this occurs because the baseball is already going 100mph and you just added more force to it making it go faster than you. if you did that on earth the baseball would never rech him (and maybe bust your windshield) b/c the resistance of our atmosphere would slow it down. in my mind the speed of light is the fastest there is, but not the fastest speed possible. kind of like adding the number 1 to infinite.
oh yeah this is the same principle that makes you fly through a windshield if your not wearing a seatbelt.

If you were riding a camel down the interstate at 86 miles per hour, and hit a mime coming from the opposite direction at 47 miles per hour, and he was hollering at the top of his lungs, upon impact, how soon would the circus fat lady parked on the off ramp 12 miles away be able to suffocate the pygmie with a tatoo on his left nut??? That works for the baseball analogy, but there is only a minute amount of (if any) resistance acting upon photons of light here on earth. I don't think you can apply the sum of 2 vectors rule to light, as in speed of baseball + speed of car. Light in itself has a whole different dimension of physics devoted to it, as atomic physics not the physics of bodies in motion. I don't think it's correct to say that the speed of light from a car's headlight equals the speed of light + the speed of the car. Photons of light don't "travel" as a baseball would. They are directed by reflections and such, not by a definite measurable force such as a baseball being thrown.

yea chuckle i agree about the properties of light and there is sense in what your saying about the reflectance and all, but before it gets to earth the intensity is about the same as it is when it leaves the sun, there aren't many particles in space to contribute to
Raleigh scattering of light (this principle explains why the sky is blue), but wouldn't it sort of compare to the properties of a sound wave. like when a train is coming toward you it's horn sounds louder than when it is going away from you right?
like i said earlier we need to have more conversation like this on here. makes us use our head for something other than a hat rack.

This is by far the most intelligent thing I have ever read on here! It is kind of funny reading everyone's input. Well here is mine....
Speed in space, and speed on Earth are measured the same. Distance covered in the amout of time it takes. Not much to that...
Yes, a watch would be slower if it traveled at the speed of light, it is a proven fact.
Yes, if twins were seperated and one flew at the speed of light for 50 years and then returned to the other twin, the twin on Earth would be aged more than the one in space.
I'm not sure about the direction thing, but I will ask the smartest man I know, Dr. B.K. Hodge, on Monday, and I'm sure he will have a logical answer.
I've got a new one to chew on.....
If a 20' jet was traveling at the speed of light or greater, it would fit in a space measuring 19' at any instant in time. This according to a professor of mine.
Who believes that one?? I'm not sure I do, but he said it is mathematically proven.

E=mc^2 says you can't go faster than speed of light.
Its an equation. Something would have to be infinitely small (m) to approach the speed of light (c) and would be facing infinite friction (resistance, heat,...E). In order to overcome the speed of light the object would cease to exist (no mass, no volume, OR enter another reality)
Time is relative in a Big way. Our time is actually measured relative to the Earths rotation. The trick (one trick) to playing with the clocks occurs in that the further you are from Earth the slower time "is" or seems to because it takes the world longer to rotate. Just a trick though.

Well! How about this ship thingy you see to the left. The Ms. river is running at 6.5 to 7 Mph. now during this high water period. If I travel up stream and am going 11mph(or 9 knots or so) How fast am I really going as my space that I occupy is constantly changing? Take current into effect.

I smell a little sarcasm in the air. You really want me to try and answer these? I can smoke the "why the sky is blue question".....I just had it on a test last week. Not sure about the others. Where can i see this girl with the smoke trick?
