Joe Ward once wrote his mother a ticket.

I just spoke with Arkansa Game & Fish, and this is what they said: As long as you are not participating in the hunt in any way, you do not need a license (taking pictures is not participating). If you are participating in any way, i.e. calling, workin your dog, ect. you do need a license.

That's not opinion, or "I think". It came straight from the Arkansas Game and Fish Department.

This is no joke. There is a game warden in Panola Co. named Marion something that gave a ticket for no license to the mother of a blind boy who was baiting his hook and not fishing. The reason being, she was aiding him in fishing. That is about as low down as you can get.

Mark,

Did you witness this Marion person writing the ticket, or did someone tell you about it? I would have to venture a guess that you either heard about it or made it up, because if you would have seen it with your own eyes, you would remember his last name. One doesn't forget things like that.

I don't question that Joe Ward would write his on mother a ticket. Joe would tell you,"wrong is wrong no matter who you are." He is a good officer.

All this hearsay....you would think people would learn after a while.

Marion and Mr. Joe are both darn good officers. You write enough tickets and eventually you make somebody mad. It's part of the job.

IMO , if the law states that I can't legally help other hunters RECOVER ( not take ) THEIR game then that law needs to be re-evaluated . If my bud arrows a deer and calls me to help track the deer and I go help him recover it ( with no weapon ) then I need a license ?

I don't disobey game laws , and I respect those that enforce them , but I can't believe that any self respecting warden is gonna write a ticket for this kinda stuff .

Most wardens are very nice, common sense people. They know who is pushing the envelope and who is not.

It came out of his own mouth. My wife and I were fishing at the spillway at Sardis the summer before last and Marion came by and checked our license. I nicely asked him if he had been writing many tickets. He began bragging about all the tickets he had written and how he would glass folks from a distance with binoculars and catch them doing something wrong. I sat there and listened as he causally flirted with my wife and bragged about his ticket writing. I was amased. He didn't know me from Adam. When he left. My wife made the comment, that guy is an "turd-cutter". I can't believe a game warden would write a ticket to the mother of a blind boy for just baiting his hook. I found out later after asking around that Marion was named game warden of the year. Apparently, he wrote more tickets than any other game warden in MS that year.
I was just joking about Joe Ward. When we farmed in Sunflower Co. he use to patrol our property a good bit and wrote several tickets to outlaw road hunters for verious violations. He and other game wardens use to come over and rabbitt hunt with us after deer season was over. Joe is a good warden in my opinion.

Now can we ask what makes a good game warden??

A good outlaw...because they know how to think like the ones breaking the law.

Just an assumption; I do not doubt that there are many good "officers" out there, but there are also a few that are on a power trip and need to use good judgment and not just write a ticket because they have the power to do so.

I've been checked by Joe plenty. As Game wardens go, sure he is a good one. Sometimes he is looking to write a ticket, sometimes he is not. Just more of the first. Everybody's like that. Sometimes your out to do a jam up job. Sometimes your just passing time. Joe's also just been around long enough to "poo" on several parades. He, also, knows what its like to do some illegal hunting (back in the day that is) .

So let me ask you this, dawg-n-duck, which illegal activities warrant a ticket and which ones should we let slide?

If you can't follow the rules, then don't get upset if you get caught. Everybody's got a story...EVERYBODY! Who in here can't think of an excuse in 10 seconds as to why they were doing 75 in a 55 when the highway patrol pulls them over? It's the same way with wildlife law enforcement.

No license? Oh, I understand, it's on your dresser at the house or I see, you didn't realize it expired 5 months ago.

Over limit on birds? Yeah, me too, I was never good with math.

Shooting 30 minutes late? No problem. Sunrise and sunset varies from day to day and after all, who really keeps up with that stuff anyway?

No life jacket? Don't worry, I really don't mind spending 2 days dragging for you in the river.

It really doesn't matter the circumstance, everybody that gets a ticket can thing of a reason as to why they shouldn't have gotten one, and some blame the officer for actually doing their job.

After all, officers should spend more time catching outlaws and less time harrassing law-abiding folks, right?

I agree, 450, but none of us on here were there and are only taking what we hear on the internet as the whole story.
