Hunt test in Vicksburg
Man, come on we'd love to have ya! Like pntailhntr said, bring the pup along, you never know unless you try. If nothing else it will get him used to new sounds and sights. Hope to see you. I'll be one of the ones going back and forth all day long making sure everyone is happy and has everything they need, or something like that!

Usually $5 will be what's called "puppy stakes" If you have a puppy, one who isn't to the level of started, you an go up, pay your $5 and they'll throw you a bird or two. These birds (sometimes just a wing) usually won't be over 20 yards. It's just a fun little deal to get you and your pup interested. Sometimes they'll have kids running older dogs to allow the kids to play the game too. I've seen kids running dogs that we've seen on TV on ESPN. Just a way to have a little more fun and involve everyone. If you're interested, you owe it to yourself to go out and watch it all. Go watch started, then move to seasoned, then to Finished. There will be land and water series in each of these. You'll see the progression, and how each level gets progressively harder. There will be some quirks that the un-trained eye won't notice, and some experienced handlers that are standing around shooting the bull will usually be more than happy to explain to you. Wear something camoflauge, it's required by handlers, and expected by spectators.
It's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Thanks!!
Yes, every one should be in camo or at least a drab color. This is a simulated hunt, there wouldn't be people out in the woods wearing white shirts.
The reason is, when the dog looks back for instruction from the handler, he may key in on some one / thing other than that person. There by putting them at a disadvantage.
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

Blue jeans and camo jacket?? Is this okay, or should we wear camo pants/bibs as well?
Rick told me that it get's started around 8:00 am on both Sat. and Sunday, and will run until probably 3 or 4 pm both days.
Puppy stakes will be a 12 on Saturday.
Mahanna is North of Vicksburg right of of Hwy 61 after you cross the Yazoo River. Look for the Mahanna signs on the left, if you are going North.
