I was a scout, but, never made eagle. My mom was den mother when I was in cub scouts. She made us do the stupid booty project for our mothers of sticking cloves in apples. the apples would dry and cloves make your clothes smell good in your closet.

I was so embarresed. All my buds gave me Hell about that and he they joined to go camping, hiking, and such. Glas mom quit after one year.

Never was a boyscout, weeblow, eagle or any of those uniform wearing fruits.

Learned all I needed from my pappy and grandpappy. I was the only 12 yo who could rig and bait a trotline with a headlight at 3am i knew growing up.

Seriously it is something to be proud of - eagle scout that is.

I was in Cub, Weblow, and Boy Scouts. Wound up with a pisspoor troop in Boy Scouts so when I turned 14 I joined my cousins in Sea Explorers. Ship 46 in New Orleans. I was involved until I went in the Navy at 20yrs. old(Explorers can be from 14-21 and different "post" are usually career orientated) I even helped out as a leader when I got out of the Navy in 1984 until the group faded away from lack of new members. We had a rank called Quartermaster that is the equivalant of Eagle(they even invite them into the Order of the Arrow) a few of my friends made this and I did not but wished I did. Any one else on here ever in Explorer Scouts? It led me to the career that I enjoy now! Some of the guys, including my younger brother, wound up going to the United States Merchant Marine Academy.

Eagle Scout of 1988, Troop 292, West Memphis, AR

I was in Scouting all my life and have a lot of great Scouting memories (and quite a few I wouldn't mind forgetting  ). My older brother is an Eagle, too. We spent a lot of time together in Scouts and later in life, too. We were assistant scoutmasters in Memphis, Troop 276, for a few years after college and had a blast with a great troop who had a lot of Dads that were heavily involved. While my brother and I were both single, we would get together all the time just the two of us or with others to go backpacking, canoeing, skiing, or whatever. We have been everywhere from Wyoming and Colorado to the Blue Ridge Parkway with packs on our backs, skis on our feet, or paddles in the water. Hopefully, when my boys are older, they will want to be Scouts and will look forward to trips with their Dad. I owe a lot to the Scouts and to the Dads who gave a lot of time, energy, money, and no telling what else for a bunch of wild and crazy kids.

My wife and I were married in Memphis in late June, 1998, which was the day the troop my brother and I worked with were leaving for a two-week backpacking trip to Philmont (huge Scout base in NM). After we returned from our honeymoon, I found out from a couple of Dads that went that the two crews of Dads and kids had planned to leave a day later on the trip so they could all come to our wedding. The kids apparently did not want to miss our wedding. Fortunately, they ended up having better sense to break the trip into two days rather than driving straight through in order to attend my wedding. Those were some good kids and fine Dads--one of "my kids" is actually getting married in Florida in a few weeks and I am bummed I can't attend the wedding.

Sorry to ramble. This post brought back a lot of memories.... :D

[quote="Wingman"]91 was in Belzoni. I think Delta merged with Chickasaw or something.

Delta did merge with Chickasaw.

Eagle scout

Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow, Brotherhood, Troop 43, Forest Ms, along with my Two brothers! went home to visit last week and my mom had all my old scout stuff out on the table. All those old Hood Scout camp handbooks, my tote-n-chip. bandanas, bandges, sash, and all the goods. I got two awsome photo alblums from philmont, and colorado springs. I probably know some of you guys about my age that were in scouting. I owe alot of who i am today to scouting, but mostly to the leaders that were there. We had an active troop, and a good group of boys. Two from my patrol made it to eagle.

Any body go to Philmont with Prewit Blalock? and the Andrew Jackson council?
