And in case you're wondering what they sound like, here's some video I shot during the 2007 early teal season in Cameron Parish, LA.

It really doesn't suprise me at all that there have been several sightings as of lately. When Rita hit LA in the fall of 2005, I would venture to say that some got blown up into our neck of the woods as the squealers are pretty thick down there right during that time .

Well, the area of the Little Red where I saw this "duck" is adjacent to ag fields. There are also Canada Geese and wood ducks on the Little Red in this same area, which go back and forth from the ag local fields to the river.

These ducks are ALL OVER the Spillway in Norco and in and around Slidell right now. You can almost walk up and bum a dip off of 'em. These seem to have no fear of humans, or labs in training. I never saw them in any numbers until this year.

about a mile from where i saw those BBWD i saw a bunch of fulvous whistling ducks.

had a pair of black bellied whistling ducks in my front pasture this past wknd.
