Great argument Counsel

It must be ok, I've never even so much as seen a trooper flash his lights for driving 1 mph over the limit in a rural, highway setting. I would expect to get a ticket if I were driving 1 mph over the limit in a school crossing setting.
Obviously wardens really do write tickets for 1/8th an inch infraction or else the original poster probably would have never even been in that conversation. To do so, seems a little silly to me.
What is the purpose of the slot limit anyway?

If you measured the fish at 12in. to start with you were illeagal to begin with. The law is all fish 12in. and under must be thrown back, the fish must be over 12in. to be legal.

That's why they have a court, so you can plead your case if a law enforcement agent wants to be a jerk.

What's the purpose of a 4 mallard limit? What's the purpose of a 4pt rule/spread rule? What's the purpose of a 15 dove limit?
What's the purpose of a slot limit? To ensure that there is a high quality resource out there for the public to enjoy in the future.
They don't adopt fish regs. just for the hell of it.

We're talking about crappie aren't we? A highly prolific fish. I recognize that the line needs to be drawn somewhere, but what specifically is a 12 inch rule supposed to do?
I don't fish, and have no clue or much care.

The way some of you fellows complain about your poor quality waterfowl hunting experience, due in part to being perceived as overly liberal season length and bag limits. I don't see how this could be a similar comparison. With waterfowl, dove or deer it's either dead or alive.
Not singling you out in particular. You may like the liberal waterfowl seasons. I'm just curious what a 12 inch fish is designed to do?
The last time I went fishing the limit was 50 crappie of any size per day. 100 bream. I don't have the patients to sit out there and wait on them that long, so they're safe from me.
