No problem, Brandon. It's not personal, just business.

You can't go wrong with the peanut butter jar in a tree. Always had good luck with the molassis over a stump too.

I'm walking under your stand at daylight on opening day to make sure you have enough molasses. Wouldn't want you to run out. ;)

What is it with the peanut butter? Or molassis? I have never heard of this

Now don't do that! You'll scare all my little deer off. If you go up there by papaw's stand there is still a top screwed in a tree from when I was in high school.

Levi, I don't know what it is that they like but the peanut butter is a hot ticket before food plots come up. My papaw used to put a jug of peanut butter (as described earlier) in a tree and throw out a dozen red apples on the ground under it, and we got great pictures before the season with the OLD 35 millimeter flash cameras. The molasses only seems to work on stumps. If you've never seen a deer with a red apple in its mouth its something to see!

Deer Cane is the most effective legal attractant I've found. I made about 5 salt licks at different stand locations on the property I'm hunting, and they love it. Probably not much better than plain rock salt as far as increasing antler size, but it's easy to use, and absorbs into the soil quicker. I don't know if it's technically legal to still make salt licks mid season, but I made these back at the end of turkey season. 2 does I have killed so far this year were mid lick at the salt lick site.

Wingman wrote:I love me some supplemental feeding tickets. That $500 fine is so much better than the old $25 baiting ticket.
For those of us that don't know, can you explain the difference and why?
I only have food plots on my property, but I would hate to get a ticket if I were a guest somewhere and didn't know the difference.

There is an entire page in the outdoor digest that deals with supplemental feeding regs.

Ok, so the $25 baiting fine no longer exist and it all will fall under the supplemental feeding fines if convicted?
