Re: 180 class
The bucks that do possess the genetics capable of being a 150+ class deer achieve that by adequate food. Adequate food goes right along with removing doe's and culls. For example, per 50lbs of body weight a deer consumes 6lbs of forage a day. Well, if I harvest a "cull" or "management buck" that weighs 250lbs, well you do the math. It's an awful lot of food that could be used to benefit a buck that could grow much larger, or for doe's. So in fact removing culls does help the antler growth of your bucks, imo and it ain't worth much!

Re: 180 class
We have about a dozen "culls" killed on our place every year and I can't argue with shooting a 4-5 yr old 8 pt with a 14" spread. But I would bet $500 that most of the culls aren't culls until after they hit the ground.DoubleBandMS wrote:If you want to shoot small bucks then do it, but don't call them culls just because your embarrassed of what someone might think .That's ridiculous. Just my honest opinion.
