Everything I have ever tasted from New Belgium was fantastic...including fat tire. Granted, it is a Notfishing beer (fill the cooler up and drink all day). It is more of a appetizer, dinner, after dinner beer IMO. That will be the case with most of the new beers we will now be able to enjoy for me personally.

I did not think this was going to be an issue. Looks like the gov. is testing the political winds before he makes his decision.

That article is using a dated quote. That was from last year when he was Lt. Gov and running for governor. Earlier this year, after being sworn in - the MS Business Journal interviewed him and he was "not necessarily against it" and mentioned that he wasn't sure if the Distributors (mainly AB/Inbev distributors) were for it, but if it could help small business itSmoke68 wrote:http://www.therepublic.com/view/story/801ed42576c64fa1b0013926d2ff37b2/MS-XGR--Mississippi-Beer/

I don't feel like looking up the exact quote - but that's the gist of it. I think there's a good, if not great, chance he will sign it.
But, it's not over with. It should take them a few days to get all the paper work in order to send it to his desk, and once he receives the bill he will have 5 days (minus Sundays) to sign the bill.
Keeping my fingers crossed. This bill plus a new Whole Foods in Jackson = a lot easier for folks to get more different beers. (I hesitate saying "good beer". There's nothing wrong with the beer we got. It drank pretty good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZoTJzh13n8).

Basically, he has until the close of business Monday to veto it. He can sign it by then, or ignore it and let it become law without his signature. There is some speculation he may do that so he can say he didn't sign it - but seriously, by not vetoing it - you effectively ok it - so I hope he'll go ahead and sign it. I've got a bottle of Stone Ruination waiting (to celebrate... or drown my tears).Smoke68 wrote:Still on his desk![]()

Looks like the Lazy Mag Sample Bill is still alive. Not sure about their bill to allow them to contract beers for sale in other states that go up to that states cap. These bills would work for any breweries that start up as well. Lucky Town is the only thing I know in the works.

Does not become effective until July 1st I believe and there will probably be some lag until they actually get beer in stores.
Great job RYP!

Re: HB 1422 8% beer in MS!
Looks like he may have quietly signed this bill late Thursday. The legislature was out on Friday, so there was no announcement until this morning (probably sat on a Clerk's desk all weekend). That's how it looks anyways, not that it matters at all. Based on the lack of news, I was expecting him to not sign it and let it become law without his signature.
Either way, I'm contemplating if it's too early in the morning to pop this Stone Ruination.
I'll be celebrating mightily on July 1st.
Now, maybe next year they can make some progress on the home brew bill. I mean, you can legally brew 200 Gallons (1,000 fifth bottles) of wine for personal consumption (if you're over 21) but you can't brew your own beer?
