it could happen to anyone.. had some friends that went hunting a week early once and didn't know it till the weekend was up.. also a few years back.. i had found a place in panther that the birds were really using.. worked my booty off getting to them.. got there killed 4 limits in bout 15 minutes... could have killed 4 more if i would have had the people.. then i heard a 4 wheeler riding through the water.. i was thinking to myself.. some idiot has got alot of nerve to ride his wheeler through the flooded woods.. well ..guess who it was.. GW.. came to inform me i was hunting a hunting a no hunting area... boy i was confused.. he pulled out a map.. asked me where i was.. i showed him and then he told me where i was.. also told me that the scale on the map was wrong... he was extremely nice though.. showed me a different/easier way to get to where to where i wanted to be. and answered alot of questions.. from then on he would help me out and guide me in the right direction.. now.. don't get me wrong.. if he saw us and there was a new face.. he would still check'em out and make sure they had there stuff. but... anyhoo.... my point is everyone can make honest mistakes.. game wardens have to do there job..some might be a little more of a jack'ums than others but overall... they can tell who made an honest mistake and who's tring to pull one on them... ya know?

I think that says it all right there. I think being a law enforcement officer has got to be being psychologist and part sociologist. They look at a stiuation and how the person reacts and can tell whether somebody is not being on the up and up. Sending the one boat to the dock with no ducks is a good example.

You guys have it all wrong..
They sent one boat back first because they thought the water level had dropped and it could have been dangerously low at the ramp. So as to not let all of their boats get stuck, they sent one instead of all.
No.. The obvious reason for them sending a boat to the ramp was to pick the game warden up and bribe him with shooting a limit of ducks out of their spot.
No No wait.. It was to let one of the guys in the boat take a crap at the landing. Once he was done, he was going to signal to the others to come on to the landing. After all, he was shy about taking a dump with the others around.

I can't remember if it was him or his dog that was shy about taking a dump with others around. Oh well...

stone throwing and name calling never does any good!!!!! But it can help sometimes like "now" to see WHO and WHY they are moved to "cast"
LQ didn't say he was "pizzed"; ilbillfsh, did,
could someone be concealing the "rumor" that access to the BRAKE was made by a local unnamed private "huntin CAMP" and exit to vehicle left at boatramp on Brake?????
moneybags and egos will go to great lengths to distort the real problem.
since i//fish and mp are joined at hips. i//fish should know better than anyone else why?????????????????????????
MP is such a
peepee

I dont believe anywhere in any of my posts I said i was "PIZZED"
Also fill me in on the RUMOR, If you want to take a shot at me then do it in person. Ovbioulsly the only ego here is yours, someone was going to make a post about the incident so it just happend to be mp I dont believe that makes him a peepee by any means. You calling people out and implying that someones Camp was involved would make YOU the peepee!
Ive talked to the Game Warden who was at the scene, He certainly was nice to the hunters and believed it was a mistake, nevertheless it was closed. So what is the real secret problem that is being distorted?

Ignorance of the law is no excuse. Intent has no bearing on the issue - whether theses “Boys†intended to hunt out of season or not, they did hunt out of season. If it was a mistake that’s too bad, if it wasn’t a mistake they got what they deserved. Hopefully, either way, this will serve as a deterrent so that it doesn't happen again.

The comments about MP have been an ongoing observation for 2 years. I was pretty sure about it last year but with the comments this year there leaves absolutly no doubt.
Now I am finished with any further conversation with MP or billfish because it will not lead to anything productive.
Here is the deal after getting the whole story.
Boys went hunting got to the Brake at 1230 there was already one truck there. They assumed the season was the same that it has been for the last 2 years. Went hunting, got a call on the cell that the season wasnt open picked up headed out, ditched birds. Got to the ramp in a hurry.
Man was there. He told them to go back get there birds and be honest cause a boat was on the way to check. Thats what they did. Got tickets, Left the scene of the crime.
There you have it.
Nobody in there right mind goes to a NWR out of season on purpose!! Especially one that Pass taylor lives right on.

Bottom line...know the dates of your game. Honest mistake or not...there is no excuse for not knowing the season. Hell the 14 year old I take hunting knows the seasons and called to remind me it was closed on Tuesday. If a 14 year old knows the season grown men certainly should. I am sorry but I have no remorse. Not throwing stones, just stating the frikin obvious.
Carry on 12 year olds...

Thank goodness that I don't have skin in this game but I do have a few observations.
1..Based on what I see, a mistake was made and admitted to as being a "stupid mistake" by someone apparently involved. I am sure that those individuals agree that reading the regs is a must before striking out across the brake. Tough lesson but game laws were broken and they are being held accountable and appear to have accepted that.
2. No one with a lick of sense would intentionally hunt Matthews out of season. I have to believe that this was a mistake but see #1. They made their bed and now are laying in it. Appears that the punishment has been accepted as fact by all....
3. When I USED to hunt Matthews Brake , the adjoining property was well marked and I always honored those lines. I hunted close to it on many occasions and never tried to call birds off of a group set up on the other side and this appeared to be mutual by both groups. That's the way it oughta be. It's too bad that the place is totally over run now. I haven't hunted it in 5 years. My first hunt on it was almost 30 years ago.
4. If someone claims to be royalty of Matthews "Break", they should learn how to spell it. It's Brake.
Anyway - the lesson that should be reinforced to all is that you should not assume anything and read the regs.

Well said...That is undeniably the truth: lack of intent, is same as ignorance of the law...the consequences are the same. The actions of the officer were his obligations. There are consequences: what they are will be determined by a judge and imposed, as they should be.
This isn't rocket science......and it want be determined by anyones opinions, "i heard's" , etc. by any FORUM. The voice of reason and fact.

Ibillfish...just read your 1st post for clarity. The post said LQ was pizzed . I apologize for lack of clarity on that statement.
Been a real thrill talking at each other, since You are so mundane and, what the heck.....it seems that you and mp have no one except each other to post to, and add nothing but confusion and problems.....my last word to you 2 are:
You 2 are as useless as a cut coon in the forest....not only are ya not doing any good, YOU ARE IN THE WAY.
