My drink of choice is a good 18-21 yr old single malt Scotch but if I slip and take a sip of some good bourbon, I like Kentucky Spirit (Wild Turkeys premium). Ummmmmmmmm Good!
Just don't spill the whole bottle on the card table, or he will suck it off the table!!!
Charter for me, or KNOBS

It will not spoil but it is not really 21 years old either.......it quits ageing when it comes out the barrell....
Once again......Children............Jack Daniels IS NOT BOURBON.......It is Tennessee Whiskey........and it taste like you are eating charcoal (Personal Opinion)
It is a federal law that to be called bourbon it must.
On 4 May 1964, the U.S. Congress recognized Bourbon Whiskey as a “distinctive product of the United States," creating the Federal Standards of Identity for Bourbon. Federal regulations now stipulate that Bourbon must meet these requirements:
Bourbon must be made of a grain mixture that is at least 51% corn.[1]
Bourbon must be distilled to no more than 160 (U.S.) proof (80% alcohol by volume).
Bourbon must be 100% natural (nothing other than water added to the mixture).
Bourbon must be aged in new, charred oak barrels.[1]
Bourbon may not be introduced to the barrel at higher than 125 proof (62.5% alcohol by volume).
Bourbon which meets the above requirements and has been aged for a minimum of two years, may (but is not required to) be called Straight Bourbon.[2]
Bourbon aged for a period less than four years must be labelled with the duration of its aging.
In practice, almost all bourbons marketed today are made from more than two-thirds corn, have been aged at least four years, and do qualify as "straight bourbon"—with or without the "straight bourbon" label. The exceptions are inexpensive commodity brands of bourbon aged only three years and pre-mixed cocktails made with bourbon aged the minimum two years.
Interesting post.
Gordo I've never been to the bourbon festival. I'd like to know more. I have never had 4roses but I will be stopping by the local liquor store on teh way home to see if they have any. I've never heard of it actually.

I'm with Ducoholic, I like what I like. Crown whiskey and Charter. Am game for trying new stuff, but Maker's keeps hitting me in the temples the following morning. Best I remember ever having was some private label stuff a good buddy scored. BTW - when you getting more of that - or you did and just keeping yourself?! Coffee, beer and bourbon; hundreds of brands competing for their self-created market share of carefully cultivated snobs. Anybody drink anymore purely for the buzz?

Your problem DR2 is that you don't have to get to the bottom of every bottle in one night.

That was Big John. I bought it, he spilled it AND slurped it up off the card table!

Woodford Reserve and Buffalo Trace are excellent bourbons. All of the blended whiskeys that have been mentioned are approximately 50% vodka.

Crown is 50% vodka?

I did say approximately 50%. I dont know the exact percentage, but blended whiskeys are made up of a large percentage of vodka. I do know that Seagram's 7 is at least 40-50% vodka. It may be a little higher, I cant remember the exact numbers.
Whoever posted the facts about bourbons, knows there stuff. To be considered a bourbon, it has to be distilled in the US, most all bourbon comes from Kentucky in Bourbon County. Canadian whiskeys such as crown royal are not bourbons, as they are blended whiskeys.

Jim Beam is my normal bourbon whiskey. I also like Crown, Old Charter, and Woodford Reserve.
And while sometimes I just drink it straight over ice, I also like mixing my Jim Beam with a little Diet Rite cola and lime juice ---very tasty and doesn't go to your head quite as fast, nor leave much of a hangover.
My preferences may make me a "topwater", I suppose, but it is what I like to drink. And I drink for me, not anyone else.
