Back to the roid issue!! I know most everyone is on the hang palmero band wagon but can you really blame him!!! He is almost twice the age of the new players that are faster, stronger, bigger etc!! To keep his position and to keep up with the younger players he has no choice but to juice it up!!! If you were making a 7 figure income and other more fit individuals were threatening to take your spot, what would you do?? The one factor he had no control over is age!!! The only way to fight it and to keep his edge was to juice!! Physically he could not keep up!! Retire or juice it up and make a few more millions or just be a mediocre player which nobody is used to seeing you be?? I agree it is fun watching kids play for the love of the game but nobody is gonna pay to see a bunch of guys hit singles all night long!! $$$$$$$$ is the bottom line!! Not saying I agree but I understand!!!!! If yall ever watched PLAYMAKERS on espn before the NFL got pissed you would see it happens in every sporting event possible!! One simple catheter to drain my pee and fill my bladder with the water boys pee and I am clear!! It happens!! No such thing as RANDOM!! The players know when it is coming!!!

naw, seriously, i happens everyday....hell, i watched it happen on teams i was on....the desire to succeed at all cost is a great thing, but it can also break you down. trust me.

bad thing is, a good friend of mine at the time fell into it....ended up getting drafted, played his way to triple A last year and was crushing the ball this spring....played their pro team during spring training and he had something like 3 hits. man, he shined. next week he was "dismissed". roids....i felt terrible, b/c he cared about "getting to the show" more than me. hell, it was all he had....now he's got nothing, no degree, no contract, and no chance of ever getting back in.....but, the pros get 10 games....they get another chance......go figure.

man, i don't "hate on" no one, hell, BW knows he's my boy and if i did anything to cause doubt in that, i am truly a sunofabitch. but this palmero thing bothered me on alot of levels....we all get on here and rant and rave over duckin (me more than most) but it just ain't my "whole" life....it just ain't. years ago, i had another life, and missed out on alot of duckin b/c of it....and i would miss out on all of it for ONE chance, one time to hit brand new balls at wriglely during BP.....the one chance all these suckers have blown. sad, very VERY sad.........gator

You got it Gator!!! The promise of millions, fame and fortune cloud the minds of many ball players!!! It starts early on and some give in and some stay the course!! Right or wrong there will always be the temptation to one up your buddy who is working just as hard as you to ensure you get your "ticket"!! The easy road aint always the best road but it works for too many!! let's just say if they did actual RANDOM testing at all levels then there wouldn't be near the level of pros that there is now!! Always a way around the system if you look hard enough!! I would love to see the NWA do random testing........bwaaaaaahaaaa!!! You tell me how HOGAN maintains his body!!!!! I wish they would bring PLAYMAKERS back on ESPN but the poor NFL didn't want people to know what really happens in the locker room!!!!!

well ol raffy has made a move that no-one ever wants to make.. he's gone from famous to the dreaded ol infamous list.... once you infamous you join a list of atheltes like shoeless joe jackson... pete rose... o.j. simpson and etc... etc..etc...


now that i've had a few days to think on it i've realized that if i were an objective hall of fame voter, i couldn't with a good consience vote for him to be in the hall of fame... you just will never know how many of his 500 homers or 3000 hits were spiced up due to the juice.. or if the reason he was able to play for such a long period was due to the roids...


i guess raffy's legacy could have gone down one of the follwoing paths ::

first theres no denying he was an awesome talent ... natural swing and all that... you know his first couple of years in the league he didn't hit hardly any homers.. had 2 years early on where he had 500 at bats and fewer that 10 homers.. also lead the league in singles one of those early years.. i guess he could have continued on that same pace and proably ended up with good numbers.. although prolly not hall of fame numbers..

or he could have thought to himself... i' want to leave my mark on this game.. i've got to do whatever it takes to try and be the best.. if that meant chemical enhancement then so be it... if this is the route he chose. which all signs now point to, the he was slapped right in the face by irony..

irony being that yep he left his mark on the game... one that will always be associated with cheating!!!!

i wish this weren't true.. for years now one of the first things i've done during baseball season.. was to go strait to the sports page ..box scores. and see how he did the night before... up until this point i had truly enjoyed following raffy!!!
