I am a former MDOT employee myself. Paycheck sucked but the time off was great. I seriously do more work in a month than i did in a year at MDOT. The culture there,at least in the right of way division, is pretty amazing 8)

Chemical Engineer. Economic Planner/Production Scheduler at an oil refinery. Have the crackberry attached to my belt 24/7/365, always on call (except when I'm hunting then I leave it in the truck). My boss would laugh if I asked for time off to hunt.

Get two weeks of vacation and I saved a few days for the draws I didn't get. Not sure what I'll do now....maybe do some internet scouting and drive north to bust some greenheads with my slingshot/trebuchet. I might even bring my Johnny Unitas book along for the ride.

After 5 years of Armed service, I then made all the wrong choices in a career and now I am a fulltime student. That is for 2 more semesters, then I will have to go back into the work force.

Long hours in the summer, always on call but pretty much off all winter except for maintenence on the airplanes. Been crappie fishing here lately, makes me appreciate those daylight to dark 7 day a week summer days this time of year.
