Hate Crime in Attala County?

I was informed by my father today that a few fellas caught a black man on there property stealing scrap iron and then asked the man to go to the sheriff dept to turn his self in and he fled and they gave chase. Then they shot and killed him, supposedly he fired first. Whats your thoughts? I hear the NAACP is involved now.

Yeah I believe if you steal you deserve to be shot but they should have done it on the spot on there property, not chase him down and do it. I know one the guys sons and its a bad situation all around.

I do see your point but if someone stole from you on a daily basis I'd smack em in the booty with steel shot. By no way do I mean he should have been killed. But please understand my point of they should have dealt with it on the spot instead of chasing him down and then taking the law in there own hands.

I will shoot all of them, graveyard dead, if they are on my property. Off of it is questionable, but if I witnessed the crime....no different than on my property. Kill em all. I don't give a damn what the law is! They will be back next week, if they don't get all they want. White or Black. They deserve to be shot!

Not taking sides on either party but this day and age if you turn it over to the law, nothing will get done. If it was eye for eye like old days, this type of craP would quit real quick. Field76, the problem is when is the line drawn fro stealing or hurting ones family? The break in to steal and are high on meth and your wife sees them, then they might harm her or kill her. You are within your right to shoot to kill. And you can drop the self righteous act because in that situation you would pull the trigger too. And so would I. It seems as though your cavalier attitude toward the law (i.e. "I don't give a damn what the law is!") is exactly the attitude toward the law of the robbers.

Buckwabit - Not that field76 needs any help defending his statement, but because I agree with his statement I fell compelled to respond. When did the situation change from 2 guys chasing down an alleged scrap metal thief and killing him to the scenario you presented? Do you honestly believe a human life is worth taking over some scrap metal? Could it be possible that field76 was responding to three comments that followed the comment beginning this thread?

I understand your point to be that if some tweaked out meth-head broke in your house while your family was home and threatened to harm them you would shot/kill them. Although your rant did not specify, I hope you meant that you would shoot this tweaked meth-head if he was in your house, presented potential harm your family, AND you were also in the house at the same time; not that you would chase the tweaker down the street where you would kill him or her.
