A really nice guy in Flowood redid my Dad's transom back in 2006 and did a great job. I can't remember his name but I believe the name of the shop is TnT Marine in Flowood.

About one exit East of Meridian, in Russell there is "Speeds Welding". The guy is a magician with welding and has done a great job for me on various things. Dunno about the wood deal, he could set it up for you though. If you need the number just lemme know.

I've been very pleased with shacks welding in flowood on old brandon road. He's done several projects for me on a number of different boats. I'm sure he can handle what you're asking about.

Whoever you use, I would suggest you try to get the old plywood out yourself and use it for a pattern to cut a new piece from. I don't see any point in paying welding rates for non welding work that you can do yourself. Take the new plywood pattern with you so the welder doesn't block you off before you bolt the pattern in place.
