Just sprayed some Trimec and wondered how long it takes to work. Could really smell 24D in that stuff.

It'll take a while with temps and moisture like it is. I usually wait until it warms up a good bit...highs consistantly in the high 70s and 80s.....but dont spray it with it too hot...it'll scorch a yard

Wait till it warms up a bit more, However I pulled up a few sensors I have on my golf course this morning and my soil temps were already at 57-63 degree's so that means the crabgrass is germinating! However with this cool front I suspect that all will change by next week

Can I spray glyphosate now just to kill the winter weeds?

Depends on whether your spraying ester or amide formulation. Ester is better suited for cold weather and gives a faster burn down. Did you add any deposition aid? Lot of variables left unsaid.

as long as your turf hasnt started to green up yet. I sprayed about 100 acres of my golf course (tee, fwy, and rough) at 16oz/A but that was first of January. The way Im greening up right now I wouldnt think about spraying it. but thats me, and I dont know what your turf is looking like.


Right now the thing that concerns me is the fast/early green up we are getting and now this cooler weather, going to have to keep a close eye on the plants and be sure that you keep them hydrated

Yeah, this late in the season I wouldn't spend the money (even as cheap as it is) on winter weed control.

In optimal temps you should see results in a couple of days. It may take several days to better than a week in cooler weather. Spray it again when temps are about 80 F but not higher than 85 F to get the most bang for your buck.

I cut down some buck brush in a brake yesterday to open up a hole. Is there anything to spray on it to kill it? This brake is never dry.

Your best bet would be Habitat (imazapyr with an aquatic label) but it is a little pricey. Don't spray it on ANYTHING you don't want to kill though. Other than that, a stout mix of 2,4-D (Hardball or other aquatic label) or glyphosate (Rodeo or Touchdown) or a combo of the two would probably do it. Get a surfactant labeled for aquatic use and mix with it too. DanP and Pondman may have suggestions too.

Noticed today that my centipede is starting to wake up. Noticed to that azaleas are starting to peak out.

I noticed that too leaving my grandparents yesterday. Might have to plan me another trip to Afton Villa Gardens this year. Hell, my Bradford Pear has already started putting out new leaves.

We already have daffodils popping up all the way up here in Blacksburg. They're calling for snow Sunday though.
