Alright guys here's the deal...... I've never been to the mountains...... Yea I said it, and here's the catch.... My fiancé insist on us going to the smokeys in sept/oct for our honeymoon..... Does anyone know of a place they have stayed in that was some kinda nice that won't cost me two arms and a leg to stay a week? I figured some family men in here has taken their kids or wives at least once..... Any tips? Thanks

My wife and I stayed at Spirit of the Smokies when we went last August. If you have kids, you have to do the dixie stampede, water park, and amusement park. They are nice and pretty fun. the place we stayed was cheap and they had just renovated the place. Room included a built in Kitchen and was centrally located to all of the sites you will more than likely want to see.

I recommend making a trip to Cade's Cove early in the morning and late at night while you are there. We rented some bikes and did that and it about killed us going up and down the hills but the scenery and wildlife is unreal. If you start planning ahead, you can do that trip cheap, cheap. Also check out the aquarium in Gatlinburg.

this is where we stayed.

last time i went, which was also a honeymoon trip, we stayed at hidden mountain resort which rents cabins in the mountains. it was in the gatlinburg/pigeon forge area. they had a deal where if you stayed 6 nights, you got the seventh free. their cabins ranged from one room to five-six room cabins.

We always stay at Headrick's River Breeze in Townsend. It is a mom and pop operation and the owners are really nice. They keep everything really clean. If you stay there, I would get a room up the hill with a balcony. The section up the hill is a newer addition and the balcony rooms have a nice view of east Townsend and the west side of the park. The part I like best about it is not having to deal with the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg traffic if you don't want. I want to say rates have ranged $50-$75 a night the times I have stayed and depend on the time of year.

Been a few times. You can rent a cabin with one bedroom, full kitchen, balcony with hot tub, etc for pretty cheap. I forget who we used but just search google, there are thousands of cabins for rent in that area.

We go about every year and we always use Mt. Laurel Mountain Chalets... Great people to deal with.

On a side note, get prepared that is probably the most hectic time of the year up there with the changing of colors on leaves.. Great site to see, but just know it is crazy busy

The people that own these are good Mississippi folks that I've met. Have never been to the cabins but my niece stayed at one of them for her honeymoon. Said they were nice

PLEASE don't call the Smokies mountains. :)

Gatlinburg was fun. Never been to Pigeon Forge, but here alot of good things about it.

You REALLY need to fly into Denver and stay in the Rockies. or better yet, head on up to Lake Louise.
