Wildlife Management Area Public Meetings – South Delta and Southwest MS
JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) Wildlife Management Area (WMA) public has two meetings scheduled for next week. These meetings will showcase regional WMA harvest data, habitat work, infrastructure improvements, and information about MDWFP. All WMA users, adjacent landowners, hunting clubs, and interested citizens are encouraged to attend.
WMAs to be covered at the South Delta meeting on February 15th will be Howard Miller, Lake George, Mahannah, Shipland, Sunflower, and TwinOaks at Hinds Community College - Vicksburg Branch from 7:00-8:30 pm. WMAs to be covered at the Southwest meeting will be Caston Creek, Copiah County, Marion County, Theodore Mars, Natchez State Park, Old River, Sandy Creek, and Wolf River on February 16th at the Copiah County Multi-purpose Building in Gallman from 7:00-8:30 pm.
"These meetings will give the MDWFP an opportunity to interact with the public and keep them informed about activities on these WMAs," said Chad Dacus, MDWFP Wildlife Bureau Assistant Director. "The primary goal for these meetings is to update the public on management activities on these WMAs and provide information about MDWFP."
MDWFP will be holding additional WMA public meetings in the coming weeks at Muscadine Farms WMA near Greenville and in Wade to discuss management activities on WMAs in those regions of the state.
MDWFP biologists, WMA personnel, and law enforcement officers will be in attendance to answer questions from the public.
