I need some help determining the value of a gun. I have a buddy wanting to sell his Ruger Blackhawk 2 cylinder .357/.38 single action with blued barrell, holster, and a box of shells. It is in good condition with maybe 2-3 boxes of shells shot through it. He wants $500 but is open to offers. What do you fellas think is a fair price without looking at it?

I'm not completely sure, that is how he described it. I was thinking it was probably related to the fact it will shoot .357 or .38?

You have one cylinder for 357 and one for 38. The Blackhawk also came in 22 and 22 magnum with two cylinders

The Ruger Blackhawk you are describing has two cylinders. One for the 357 and one for 38 special. Looking online at GunsAmerica it appears that you can get this gun from a price range of $445- $750. With the Holster and ammo included I would say you are getting a fair price for the gun. That of course is assuming that the gun is in excellent condition.
Of course the value of a gun is solely dependent on how bad you want the gun. I personally am not interested in this gun and would pay no more than $350 for it, if anything. However, it appears from looking at what other's who do value this gun are charging then getting it for $500 would be a good deal for you asssuming that you like the gun.

Here is one new at Buds Gun shop on line for a little over $500 by the time you pay shipping and FFL fees etc...

Why would you have 2 cyl for those calibers?
I dont get it, they are interchangeable rounds in a 357 right?

I believe that your second cylender may be in 9mm...thats a gun I want(6.5" barrel) and have seen in the new model. That would be a good price if gun is as advertised. .38 will shoot safely from a .357
