On history channel for 3 nights and so far it is really good. Kevin Costner plays a great Hatfield leader. Would have made for a great movie but would have been really long. Anyway a 3 night series is looking pretty good.

+1. Very good so far. Can't wait to watch tonight and tomorrow night. I've been waiting on this for over a month when they first started advertising.

These folks were rough. Did not take much to get a bullet in the head back then.

Costner was interviewed last week. He talked about all the reading and research that went into the accuracy. This is a great series.

I thought I remember reading that the brother who fought for the Yanks who was killed in the woods, he was found by tracks in the snow from the slave bringing food to him.

If you've spent any time reading about the H&Ms and watched last night you can appreciate the accuracy. They "hollywooded" it some but stuck pretty close to the story. Can't wait for tonight.

There are several good books that were written about this feud. I've read one of them and found that the History Channel's rendering is very close to what the Book I read presented.

Those were some very rough times. The nation had just endured the worst tragedy in its history, the civil war.

In the late 50's early 60's there was a fued between two families in N. Winston County that was nearly as bad. I remember my parents and brother talking about it. Parents told my bro that he needed to stay off certain roads at night because it was dangerous. The two families still live in the area and still don't like each other. As I remember, three folks were killed over a woman...no law was ever brought in. A preacher intervened to stop it.

Hatfield and McCoy feud led to 13 people dead and over 20 injured through its process. So bad was that feud that two Governors had to step in to bring it to a halt. I hardly would say that the Winston Country feud was "nearly as bad".
