Bar-headed Goose in Afghanistan

Postby medic11 » Sun Sep 09, 2012 1:04 pm

So this afternoon I was walking out of my tent and I heard a familiar racket of wings beating and honking. I look up and about 100 yards away just outside base is a large group of Bar-Headed Geese coming in to land in a field. Man, just got me fired up to get to the house in a couple months. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bar-headed_Goose. Pretty cool looking birds. Apparently known for being the highest flying bird, crossing the highest peaks of the Himalayas on their migration route.

Cool, man! Too bad you can't take some time off to bag a few over there.

Yeah I'm pretty sure the m-4 would have been able to reach out and touch em, but the hard part would have been explaining why I needed to walk off base.

One of my dream trophy birds and not too many places they're available to hunt - and nowhere that most folks would even consider hunting them!

Stay safe over there, and thanks for the Flag.

Yes sir, Mr. Ramsey kyrgyzstan would be your safest place to hunt them, but then your still risking it.
