Best Running Shoe

What do you guys reccomend. I am a big guy, about 250 . I am doing between 1.5-2 miles per day and need some better shoes.

Go to Stinky Feet or wherever and get them to size/brand you.

I have wide feet so that limits me a little. I mostly crosstrain but I prefer regular running shoes. What works best for me as far as a brand are Asics or Brookes

It's like handguns - buy the one that fits you best. Find a Fleet Feet or some other independently owned running store to purchase from. They should watch you run in the parking lot (embarrassing, I know) and then fit you in the proper shoe. The good news is, if you find one that works you can just keep ordering that particular shoe whenever you need new ones. Need to buy new shoes every 300-400 miles but if you are heavier you made need to change out more often.

I am on my second pair of Brooks. Go and let somebody fit you for a pair. That way you will know exactly what you need as far as what kind of support. Lots of different a kinds out there.

I have some Brooks now that I love, but they are the lightweight no support very little cushion shoe. Just feel like I need something with more support and cushion for when running.

Got some friends that did an Ironman in ATL this week and said Newton's are what most of the runners are wearing! look good dont know alot about them!

You have been giving solid advice about finding a running shoe store and let them look at your gait and recommend a shoe for you. I wouldn't recommend Newtons if you aren't at the mileage you are running. If your in the Jxn area Stinky Feet and Fleet Feet are your best two options. If you aren't near any running shoe stores see if you can find a PT or podiatrist that can help you determine your gait from there you can go to running warehouse and order your shoes. Free shipping and if you don't like them send them back. I once sent back a pair with 27 miles on them with no problems.

There used to be a YouTube video that showed you how you could determine your gait/foot strike by doing a wet foot test. Simply get your feet wet in a pool or something and walk on concrete and look at print. I don't know too much about the test or it's reliability.

Definitely go somewhere with a scanner so they can check your arch as well as how you distribute weight on your feet and your gait. The Brooks are good shoes however I went with the Mizuno Wave Creations, I put hundreds of miles on my last pair and recently bought another pair.

Top three running shoes Brooks, Mizuno, and Asics. I where Mizuno. But recommend you getting fitted.

The mizunos have been really good. Those or the Brooks are what I'd look at.

The other thing--if you are 250--which is about what I am, change shoes out frequently. Big fellas beat down the arches and compress the soles faster than little folks. Changing them will keep your joints healthy.

Im was running Brooks that were fitted for me a Stinky Feet. They are supper light but dont have enough support. After running in them about two weeks my feet went to Shat and my arches started hurting. Now I have a pair of shoes that cost a bill that I cant run in. I think the shoes are to good for me.

PeeWee is the Iron Man around here, he will have some good input im sure.

I have been there. First pair I had were from fleet feet, they were nike. Nike then quit making them so I had to try different shoes.
Tried brooks and asics, didn't like either. Nike has more cushion than just about any other shoe out there. Definitely works better for bigger people. I eventually found some new old stock of the original nike shoes I had in england. Ordered from the uk, now I have 3 pair in my closet. Should be good for the next year and a half.
