Hard Decision

I have the oppritunity to go to South Florida late December to hunt the everglades wma and stormwater treatment areas for relatively a free trip. From what i have read/heard/seen pics of, ducks are as thick as the mosquito's and its one place that is semi close to go kill a few different species of whistling tree ducks. I would love to get a couple of them mounted... but here is the problem.. my wife will be ~7 months pregnant at the time we will be departing... She gave birth to our first child at 6.5 months and our little girl stayed in the hospital for almost 4 months and my wife stayed for over a month. The syndrome she has is also known to reoccur in following pregnancies. so far everything is going smooth... we will only be gone for 4 days total... she is telling me to go on a once in a life time trip... but then again it would be hard for me if anything happened... to me i think i should stay home and not even consider it... but she is really on me saying she is ok and that we have been planning this trip for about a year...would you try to go or would you play it safe and hunt local?

I'd go...probably the reason I am still single though.
Honestly, it may be the last time to take a trip like that, just make sure things are lined out before you go. Get some stuff in order if you had to haul booty back and prepare for the worst to make it easy on both of yall.

florida will be there forever. i would stay home with family. i would have a hard time comparing a duck hunt to the well being of wife and child. just my opinion.

Duck hunting will "hopefully" always be there. Your child being born only happens once. You never know when it will happen. Just my opinion

Judge is exactly right.....from a Father and Grandfather....hearing your wifes history....you will look back later
and know you did the right thing....for a lot of good reasons. My experience says a number of times
once and a lifetime things do come around again also. Good Luck with the new arrival. nj

free trip, thick as misquitos? as a father of two college age daughters and a husband of 24 years, stay home and make whisting ducks a priority when your kids are grown.

Sounds like a rock and a hard place. I don't think you'll know the answer until after you get back from the hunt. That being said it's a gamble. What is more important to you...your child's birth/family health or some birds.

Knowing the background, I dont think you have any choice but to pass on the trip. You can always try to plan another trip next year. It will probably put a dent in your trips to Mississippi this season, but thats OK too. There will always be more trips, but being there for your family has to come first. I plan on coming up to with hunt with yall in late December or January so hopfully you can plan on being around then. Going to make a few trips south this season so we need to get together and chase a duck sometime this season.
