Out and Around in November

Postby Double R 2 » Tue Dec 04, 2012 9:14 pm

Eagle Lake, Texas goose hunting with my sons. The lighting was spectacular and I had fun with camera in between volleys. (touched up the medium sized jpegs and saved the RAW files for later)

Info - http://www.getducks.com/guided-hunts-by-geography/guided-canada-hunts/nova-scotia-guided-hunts/nova-scotia-sink-box-duck-hunting.aspx

It's really a pretty cheap trip. It's not fancy, but a really cool place, lots of history, and LOTS of black ducks. He wants 3 minimum, and I like the idea of 4 maximum.

I've got the first 2 weeks of December blocked for GetDucks.com clients exclusively. I was up there in November and wish I'd done December but couldn't swing it calendar-wise. Supposedly, the black ducks we shot are tiny compared to the big redlegs that come down from PEI. If you don't kill but 2 species it will be black ducks and oldsquaws. Please read the website regarding eiders and the 2nd camp option for goldeneyes (they have commons and a few barrow's). IF the weather is amenable - and is was NOT when I visited - you can go for eiders from rocks or layouts, not boxes (northerns and commons, he says a few nominate race and has one mounted). Anything out of the east, and its a no go. I brought home 6 big black ducks, entirely to my loving wife's chagrin, because, well, they're black ducks and I killed more in Nova Scotia than I had in the 30+ years preceding.

Y'all look at your calendars for the first 2 weeks December, figure when, and let me know so I can hold the dates. Am in an out and nose to the grindstone with web rebuild when not out, so please email me ramsey@getducks.com or text me 601-214-9737 to let me know. THANKS and looking forward to it. RR
