How long ago did they stop putting putting Avise on the duck bands?

Good question - but I don't know that they HAVE quit putting it on some bands......but I also haven't seen one recently.

As I understand, the word 'Avise' has international meaning....i.e. "Attention"....or "Alert"......or "be advised".

The last 'Avise'-type (deep relief type print in large letters) band I have was clamped on a wood duck in Reeceville WI on 8/29/2001.

My wife and I have others (Avise-type) from '58, '72, '76, '90, '93(2), & '96(2). She has a couple of the deep-relief style type bands but they are not 'Avise'.

'Hope this helps, somewhat. I wish they'd still use that style.

They quit making them somewhere around 2000 when the 1-800 number was developed. But, they continued putting them on birds until they ran out of them, and for the less popular sizes like 4s, 5s, and 6s, they lasted longer than the 7s and 8s. There's not an exact answer for this question.
