This is what I got back in reply to the email I sent. I am sure it is a generic one that is sent out to all that email about the situation. He says he is for protecting our second amendment rights but does not say he is against all gun bans, kind of playing both sides in my opinion.

Thank you for contacting me to share your thoughts regarding the horrific Sandy Hook school shootings and the future of gun control legislation. As your Congressman, I am committed to putting the needs of Mississippi families first, and knowing your views and ideas on federal legislation is critical in order to best represent you. To this extent, your comments and ideas are always appreciated.
What happened in Newtown is a national tragedy and my thoughts and prayers go out to all the people of Newtown and mostly the families of the victims. The murder of innocent children and adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School is an inexcusable act that reminds us of what is truly important in life, family and friends. As a result of these horrific events there is a renewed focus on gun legislation in Washington, both in favor and against additional controls. President Obama has made calls for action, and has proposed the establishment of a task force that will make recommendations dealing with both mental health and gun rights issues.
As a gun owner, I believe it is important that we are cautious to oppose any proposals that may weaken the right to bear arms expressly mentioned in the Bill of Rights. I also believe it is important to fully examine what can be done to avoid tragedies in the future. Rest assured, I will not compromise in any way your Second Amendment rights to reform a system that currently ensures the freedom to own and carry personal firearms, but I will work to ensure that our families and friends are protected from future mass tragedies.
As I close, let me again thank you for contacting me and helping me to better understand the concerns of Mississippians. If there is any assistance I can provide or if you have additional thoughts and opinions, don't hesitate to contact me. I got something similar from Alan Nunnelee. At least somebody is probably keeping count.

Got an email from our Rep, Alan Nunnelee, and his email was much more emphatic in what he would and wouldn't do. I've known Alan ever since we were kids and he's one that for sure ain't going to drink the Kool-Aid.
Thank you for contacting me to share your support for the Second Amendment. It is good to hear from you, and I appreciate having the benefit of your views on this matter.
Let me reaffirm my unwavering support for the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States. The right to bear arms is a fundamental right that is assured to every law abiding citizen. As a lifetime member of the NRA, I have and will continue to fight for the right to bear arms while serving as your Representative in Congress, and I will oppose any so-called “assault weapons ban.”
Like you, I was shocked and saddened by the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14, 2011, when twenty children and six adults were murdered at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Our country mourned the loss of these innocent lives and rightfully asks why did this happen, and what can be done to prevent it from happening again.
Passing laws restricting the rights of gun owners may make some members of Congress feel accomplished, but history has shown us that gun bans are not effective in stopping crime. You can rest assured that I look forward to a debate on curbing violence and ensuring our children and families are safe, but I will not be supporting legislation that scores cheap political points at the expense of law abiding citizens.
Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me on this important matter. I hope that you will continue to keep me informed of the issues important to you and your family, as your input helps me to better serve you as your Representative in Congress.
