Bigoak, there is nothing illegal about what the MSU coaches and supporters were doing with the Jones recruitment, and I did not say or suggest that there was. So, I have no reason to report anything. I was just letting you know what I heard about this in the community where I live (in Chickasaw County, about a 15 minute drive from Houston high school).
It is just a different style recruiting tactic ---but, one that I don't think will work anymore in this day and age of the combines, camps, all-star games and social media. Word about a good player is eventually going to get out. It is no secret that MSU tries to insist that its commits not take any more visits, and they get upset when they do. As I said, that is one style of recruiting, and if it works for your school, then good for you. But, there are more open approaches that I think work better with kids today --- promote/sell your school, without tearing down others --- low pressure on the kids ---- encourage the recuits to visit other schools before committing --- don't remove key targets who are already committed simply because they are visiting other schools ---get the parents involved before accepting their commitment (if possible).
And I never said there is anything wrong with early evaluations and identification of recruiting targets. Every school tries to do this. But, would you rather have a kid taking all their visits to other schools late in the recruiting process (after they have committed), or early in the recruiting process (before they have committed)? Personally, I would prefer the latter.
Those of you who enjoy the "black helicopter" paranoia of recruiting/college football, as well as delusions of grandeur, can surely get that stuff on some other boards where such folks reside and thrive. Is it necessary to have it here destroying healthy brain cells?
And in response to STAG, I am not even going to attempt to respond to or defend against what some other folks (who you claim are Rebel fans) said at one time or another about this or that. I don't purport to represent all of the Rebelnation. But, I will be happy to discuss anything that I have penned here at one time or another.
Over the years, I have seen a LOT of discussion here, by posters allegedly with inside info, about this school allegedly cheating, and this school allegedly cheating, and so on and so forth. And how many times has any of these type topics being discussed by the "insiders" ever been proven to be true as reported here? And even if true, resulted in any type of serious NCAA sanctions, etc.? I can't recall any such instances. So, IMO, the black helicopter crowd is batting 0.00.
The Redmond issue at MSU surfaced early in the fall, and there was apparently something to it due to the actions taken by MSU in response. At that time, I cautioned restraint here in discussing it, because none of us had all the facts, and it did not appear to be anything that would result in serious sanctions against MSU, even if everything reported elsewhere turned out to be true. And to the credit of this board, there has not been any hysteria here about this issue.
But I can't stop any of you from posting a bunch of nonsense and making a fool of yourselves ---- for the most part, you have that constitutional right guaranteed by the first amendment, limited only by Micah's rules, to go full retard. So, knock yourselves out. Only know this. I am laughing at you when you do. The signal you are sending is a big sign that says "LOSER".
