How easy is it to transfer a gun you bought from someone into your name. Gun was bought years ago and I don't have any of there information.

Heck, I'm even glad to find out that the guy I bought some of my guns from years ago has sold his business and retired.
Nobody owes you anything.

Bc when I shoot one of these thugs for stealing stuff from cars I wanna make sure I gonna be good. I don't wanna have to shoot someone and the gun be in someone else's name.

More than likely its not in their name either. There is now way I would register a gun.

Re: Gun ?
How would you actually go about this? Ask someone with FFL to run check on you? Go to your local sheriff dept and tell them the story?
Re: Gun ?
Listen to everyone the gun doesn't have to be in your name. If you shoot somebody and the gun isn't hot then your fine.
Re: Gun ?
Just get a cop buddy to run the serials. If it comes back "with history", then you may have issues. Otherwise, let sleeping dogs lay.
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

Re: Gun ?
As far as I know the only guns that have to be registered, or can be for that matter, are full auto, short barreled rifles or shotguns, and/or suppressors.
Like Joel said, get a LEO friend to run the number on it so you can be sure it wasn't reported stolen or known to be used in a crime at some point etc. Other than that you sold it years ago...

At times there is not a satisfactory substitute for well-aimed lead going down range at high velocity.

Re: Gun ?
You can go to a U. S. Customs office and have it "registered" in your name. They will identify the gun and the serial number and give you a form. Like the others said....I don't think it is necessary.
Re: Gun ?
+1 There is no registry of guns unless they are restricted such as the ones listed above. This is what the NRA is fighting against right now. If its a new gun you might could update the registration with the manufacturer for warranty purposes, but its probably no necessary.iron grip wrote:As far as I know the only guns that have to be registered, or can be for that matter, are full auto, short barreled rifles or shotguns, and/or suppressors.
