Anybody have experience with having a pond/lake built? I'm thinking of having a 1-2 acre one dug. Just looking for any resources, suggestions and referrals. It will be located in northeast MS.

I had an existing 1.7ac pond 'deepened' after it dried-up 4 years ago. I consulted with a couple of specialists on recommendations. A phone call to my long-time friend, 2 D6's with 'rip blades', an excavator, 2 dump trucks, and 3 days later - I had a pond with structure @ an average depth of 6'.......enough to keep-up with evaporation and wind convection.

If you're not sure of the soil type in your area (I think you're around Starkville if I remember right) - get Pritchard Engenieering to do a few test borings.
If it's limerock - here's another referral.......
Cadence Bank of West Point

we have had several dug over the past few years in Tippah CO.. a real good track-hoe operater can move a lot of dirt in a short time. we use Greg Harrell from Ripley. there is all the info you will ever need on the internet to achieve what you want. we have used several different pond stockers with good success.

Dan is right. You have until the end of March. I don't like to stock that late, but I will if that's the only option.

Good advice so far. If you decide to build shoot me a PM with your location an I may be able to help you some. I can vouch for the contractors that Randy and the judge recommend and may be able to add some more.
Pondman gots the know how too.
