My back is still killing me. To give a update, I have a ruptured disc between my L4 & L5. 2 weeks ago, I saw a Dr. Amnundson at the Baptist in Jackson. He was suppose to set me up a appointment at NewSouth NeuroSpine in Flowood. They have never called me, so I called them today. They said that I have a appointment on March 28 for epidural steroid injections in my back. It really ticked me off because I have been in horrible pain. The meds they gave me doesn't even take the edge off. I need some relief. (Sorry for the rant.)

Can anyone tell me anything about the people in Flowood and what can I expect when I get there?

Not sure on the guys in flowood. Good luck with the shots. I had L4L5 microdiscectomy done Friday and it sucked the first few days but walked around today with no leg pain or numbness for the first time in 4 months

Who and where did you have your surgery?

Dr Benae with The Spine Center at Hattiesburg Clinic did mine

Did they mention anything about sedation with you called? If not call them back and ask if you need to not eat or drink after midnight the night before. They will give you IV sedation and then the doc will use a fluroscope to guide him/her in wear to put the needle. You will wake up and need someone to drive you home. You aren't supposed to drive or sign any documents for 24 hours. It will take a few days for the steroids to work so don't be shocked if it doesn't help immediately.

I'd call your primary care doc and ask what you can do between now and then. He could put you on a medrol dose pack which would help but that might screw up how much steroid you can get when they inject. I know when I have mine they go back and look at everything I've had to make sure I'm not going over the amount of steroids I can have in a given time period. Going over can lead to some pretty bad things happening.

Got any questions you want to ask just send me a PM. I've got more metal, screws, glue, rubber bands, and bailing wire in my spine than I care to deal with. Going through airport security with a neuro stim is a pain. They all think I have a bomb implanted on my side.

Get ready to get put in the "system"! They have therapy, pain management, surgery, etc etc. you will have injections then be referred to another person at the facility and the cycle begins. And your appointments won't be rushed either. That's a busy joint. You will feel as if you are getting the run around and pawned off on the next guy so get ready. Just what I have witnessed.

I had a discectomy at c5 c6 couple months back at NS2 and have nothing but good things to say about them. Dr. Davis did mine and told me everything I needed to know. Got me in and out pretty quick. Not placing any blame here but as far as NewSouth calling you, shouldn't your current doc have done that too? I got my CT at sports medicine and they called me and told me everything was set up and when to go and all that. Just my 2 cents.

My current doc told which is part of NS2, to expect a call from the Flowood office with my appointment. That was on Friday March 1. I finally called them on March 11 and they told me that my appointment was March 28. I just think that someone could have contacted me sooner. Just saying.

I wouldn't eat the day of. I had eaten one day and he couldn't do the injection because of it, had to reschedule.
