I think State probably takes two of three based upon:
(1) Home series;
(2) Better pitching (if State's Friday starter is good to go); and
(3) Hunter Renfroe.

I think that if the Friday starter is good to go then we break the brooms out on Sunday. Renfroe is a freaking BEAST!!!

Katz hitting the ball for LSU just as well as Renfro. I think the series will come down to which team gets what they want out of their pitching. Someone will not have the outing they expect and thus will change the whole outcome of the series. If both teams were to hold status quo.....then I think MSU would win 2 of 3. You just cannot predict these series. The teams are too close to equal in the SEC. But of course that is no fun.....................................................so I predict the Dogs win the series 2 games to 3 and the loss is a blowout....like 7+ runs or more.

Where has Renfroe come from? He was decent, but not great the last year or so. He is all of the sudden a beast. What changed?

They have always said he had all the tools to be incredible, just had never put it together. He has been clocked at throwing 100+ so as good a hitter as he is, he may find the mound at the next level. He broke HR records in summer ball up at Cape Cod. They retired his jersey up there after the season so I assume he must have broke the record by a huge amount. Did not even know they retired jerseys up there. Anyway, think it is just him blooming into what people have expected for a long time. He was put on the Golden Spike watchlist before the season so even with avg stats from past seasons, people were waiting for him to break out.

I remember two years ago I had a meeting with an Easton rep and he was telling me about how they had gone to all the SEC schools that use Easton and were grading all the guys using a new computer system. The system was meant to fit them with the best bat but supposedly would also measure how good of a hitter you were. Anyways he said Renfroe graded out higher than anyon(Zunini the cat her from Florida was second) in the SEC and was going to be a stud down the road. Guess he was right.

Hunter has gone to a summer league in the Midwest the past two summers. Pitching isn't as good there vs the cape.

Cal Ripken League, not Cape Cod. But still a great accomplishment to break those records and have # retired.
