Future of AK?

I still believe you need to give him a year or two in the new building........that being said, many Rebel fans said he bought himself another year or two by going to NCAA tourny.......my gut tells me that since "the door was open" to go depe in tourny, but didn't.......I say Bjork does the deed and AK is gone. What say you?

AK will be retained. He needed to get us into the NCAA tournament this season. He did that, and then some.

After the MSU loss, I thought he was as good as gone. Since then, it was an improbable, but impressive run for the Rebels. An SEC tournament championship, NCAA appearance , and first round win over 5 seed Wisconsin no doubt saved AK's job, despite falling a shot short of the sweet 16 in a heartbreaking loss in round 2.

I hope that AK can move Ole Miss basketball forward to the next level. While I am skeptical of his ability to do that, I will be pulling for him to do so. We have a lot of time and money invested in Andy, and have endured the growing pains of his initial immaturity as a head coach, and the learning curve of his development into a better floor coach. He still has a long way to go before being considered as "elite", but he is moving more now in that direction. Only time will tell.

He will be right back on the hot seat after next season in my opinion, with the 2014-15 season being pivotal in keeping his job. He is just not that impressive of a coach. Given the level of talent that he had, having to win the SEC Tourney to sneak into the Tourney as a 12 seed is pretty ridiculous.

I thik Bjork is gonna hold his coaches to a really high standard. I think Bianco will be on a short lease too if a trip to Omaha does not happen in the next couple of years...or so I hear anyway. Given the way Ole Miss Baseball is performing at the moment, that trip may come this spring.

he's going nowhere. he stays.

you can't replace the coach and continue on course to move upwards, when you fire the winningest coach in your history, just won the SEC tourney, tied the record for the winningest season in history, and Won a game in the NCAAT. not to mention lowest budget in the sec to work with as far as basketball goes.

who the hell wants that job? yeah we had 3 bad losses in the season, no doubt but even winning those 3 games still would have accomplished nothing else as far as going further in the NCAAT.

that being said, i'm still not a fan of AK.. i'm just a realist

You're right. You would do more harm than good getting rid of him now. He's earned another year or two.

I don't see how you could fire him. It would be different if this was a yearly basketball powerhouse team such as Kentucky but Ole Miss should be very proud and happy of the season they had. I do think the SEC will be much better next year, Bama only loss one player, State should be improved although will still have a ways to go, Kentucky should be much better, obviously Florida has been consistent, and UT is always competitive.

Without Buckner and Holloway Ole Miss wasn't even an NIT team...Next year gonna be rough unless Cox, Jones, and Perez turn out to be real good...

Inversely, a healthy Jones and Cox probably makes Ole Miss an Elite 8 team this year....I predict with Williams, Buckner, and Holloway gone Ole Miss has a tough year next season.

Indeed. Gonna be tough replacing either one of those guys.

I think he keep's his job.I don't like his his style of ball and seem's he won't adjust .In the last 2 games everybody in the country including all the broadcast guy's were yelling we had those team's over matched on the inside game and yet he never feed's the ball inside to the post guy's.In last night's game they had 1 big man Iwould have posted up Hollaway and Buckner and feed them till they bust. They either foul out the big guy or open up shot's for others with a inside outside game.I don't think AK has a post up play in his play book they use the big guy's for rebound's and they get most of their point's off put back's instead of set play's.I gusses I'm old school but when you have the chance you work the ball inside first then look for the outside shot and that oppertunity was there last night.

His team was built to be an inside out team. In other words, there should never be a perimeter shot until the ball goes inside at least once. Feed the ball inside, when the defense collapses on the bigs in the paint, kick it back out for open jumpers. That's why I think Henderson's style of play was ultimately detrimental to the team's success. But hey, what do I know? Not much.
