I'm looking at buying another truck, probably 2011 or 2012... I used to drive Z71's and recently I had a F150... Never had a problem with my F150 but I had to replace transmissions in both my z71's... What's yalls input... I like the space in the F150 and the interior better but it seems like the Z71 drive better? What's yalls thoughts on these newer trucks?

We run F150s at work and I've always driven Chevys new and old. The Chevy rides better and gets better gas mileage and the GMC seams to really be more refined. To me the GM brands are both a little fancier truck than the F150 unless you get the king ranch. The fords are really REALLY tough trucks. They ride rough and seem to not have quite the get up and go. We send them to the shop a good hit but we also run the hell out of them sometimes 100 miles a day on rutted up oilfield roads. It's a lot like the baja 500. They get pretty poor gas mileage as well. The fords don't seam to have the electronic problems I've always seamed to have with GM.

on my second chevy. i've put 150k on my z71 in the past four years and have been rough on it. i've kept it serviced regularly and have only had to change spark plugs.

i've heard the new ecoboosts are nice, but it'd be tough for me to drive anything other than a chevy.

I have an 07 Sierra with roughly 110k on it. Have never had a mechanical problem... knock on wood and have really enjoyed the truck. If I were buying a new one, I would do a little research on the Tundra.

Always drove Ford's. Ask anybody that knows me and they'll tell you I borderline abuse my trucks in the woods and mud to get where I'm going. I've had very little problems out of the last 5 Ford trucks I've had (except when I rolled one 4 times with Big Timber, which was his fault by the way)... one Bronco, 3 150's and one 250. I put well over 100k on each of them. I'd stay away from the EcoBoost. If I was forced to go with another truck besides a Ford, I'd buy a Ram. I always hear of Chevy/GM having transmission problems. As a highway and gravel road truck you really can't go wrong with any of them. That being said, Chevy/GMC doesn't ever seem to hold up as well to hard use and abuse. Yes, they ride good and get slightly better gas mileage... but look at what most farm managers, oil field workers, linemen, catfish farmers buy - the percentage of Ford's is much higher, especially the 150. That being said, wouldn't trust a new diesel from any of the big 3 these days.

If you think a GMC or a Chevy is fancier then a F150 lariat with a center shift console you have lost your mind......

I will never own anything but an d150

Spot on. love my FX4 and I'll be driving that thing till the wheels fall off. With that said I'm a life long Ford guy but I'd stay away from those ecoboost do to the turbo/intercooler issues they're seeing.

My last 6 have been GMC trucks. If I go back to half ton I am going to look at the f150. I drove an 11 platinum on a trip no Eco boost and it got 19 mpg. The room in the cab along with the sync is nice. I'm not sure about the new ones but the last gm with aluminum heads always was a quart low soon as you went over 3k on an oil change.

Love my 06 Lariat. Previous was a 99 lariat with 215-120kish miles when the tranny went out. I believe I am Ford till I go.

If youre worried about fuel economy buy a Prius. A 4wd truck isnt supposed to get good gas mileage. If it does, it wont tow anything worth a crap. I had a Chevy z71 and it rode nice and had decent fuel mileage, but sucked wind when trying to pull just a 16' aluminum boat with a 40 on it. Got rid of it, and got a Ford F-150 and thats all I will ever own from here on out. Yeah they ride rougher, a truck isnt supposed to be a cadillac. It out tows and works a GMC/Chevy any day of the week. Its got 180k on it and no problems as of yet. Drives like new and doesnt feel sloppy like the Chevy. My brother has an '11 F150 Lariat with the center console shift and it is FINE. Lots of room too.

At least give the Tundra a chance. Don't buy anything until you test drive one. That's all it took for me to buy one. Pm me if you want more info.
