Dove season?

What's the opening date for dove season this year?
Tennessee will open Sunday, September 1st, at noon. Tennessee always opens on the 1st no matter what day of the week it is. Mississippi usually opens the 1st Saturday in September, so that should be September 7th.huntsober wrote:Since it is a Fed bird I thought they could not open a hunting season on a Sunday.

I'm all for this, as well!Double R 2 wrote:Federal statutes mandate hunting of migratory birds on or after September 1. I think it's a good idea to start at 2 p.m. on Sundays. Used to be an afternoon opener by default. It's never felt the same getting up duck-blind or deer-stand early to hunt doves (but I do when that's the game plan). Given a last-meal-type one last hunt, I'd wish for a Mississippi opener and be perfectly contented with an old-time 12 bird limit as long there were friends, family, bacon-wrapped doves and ice cold beer afterwards.
Sounds glorious.champcaller wrote:I'm all for this, as well!Double R 2 wrote:Federal statutes mandate hunting of migratory birds on or after September 1. Early Canada goose hunt in the morning and dove hunt that afternoon? Can't beat that in September.
