Well in the airport at Saskatoon waiting for the first leg of my marathon trip home. Hunted west of Saskatoon and had phenomenal hunting for all days. Shot mallards and Honkers at will, was able to pick out green heads and it was fun. Have lots of pictures however won't have those up for a few days until I get out of an airport. Also have some pretty good footage. Nothing like working a tornado of mallards into 5 yards and feeling the wingbeats off the ducks and geese before you shoot. For those that haven't been it's a bucket list trip, go when you can!

If you had to estimate a cost for a Canada trip what would you put it at? Plane Tickets, hunt, lodge, food, etc

you can do the trip freelancing for a couple thousand or so each for a week and if you go with a guide you'll have to talk to the waterfowler or ramsey on that.

My First time this year: (6 guys) Great hunting and awesome part of the country to see. Trailer/decoys already there - highest cost in my opinion was the adult beverages. White and dark geese were awesome; but the duck hunting was unbelievable. The people up there are like a rewind to the early 1980's and extremely nice
Freelance - 10 day trip -8 days hunting: flight, hunting, truck rentals, hotel, food/beverages $ 1850

Jeff made 3 duck hunts and a honker hunt over 4 days, so he took home everything he was legally allowed to kill in those 4 days.....i.e. 23 mallards, 1 pintail, and 8 honks.
Otherwise, he's just honoring my request not to divulge any 'specifics'.

Same here. I think the common assumption is that folks kill a limit of birds every day.......and that they hunt every day. I doubt that's the case and I doubt folks will tell you otherwise, unless specifically asked.
The largest bag (cooler) allowable on a flight is 62" (length + height + width). Jeff found the largest one made (61"......wheeled) that meets those requirements and we were only able to get 24 mallards and 8 honkers in it.
If you have a regular duffle, a gun case, and a carry-on.......that's all you're allowed. Typically, two people could share a gun case as one person's checked bag and then the other person could declare a cooler as one of his 3 allowable bags.
Otherwise, each additional bag (cooler) costs around $150 extra.
Personally, I don't care to hunt every day - there's a tremendous amount of work and logistics involved (freelancing) and after a few days of 'run and gun'......it becomes too much like 'WORK'.......not pleasure. Fortunately for Anne and myself, that's the beauty of being able to stretch the trip out over a 3-4 week period.
Jeff used some of our ducks to make a pot roast and a gumbo while he was there, so that consumed about 12 ducks and 2 geese. Other than that, you either stop at your posession limit or 'gift' birds according to the regulations.
