Ask DS- Gift Idea for Wedding Shower *Must be Made in MS!

I have a buddy who is getting married. One of the showers for them asks us to bring a gift made in Mississippi.

Somebody give me some leads on some cool stuff made here at home.

I don't mind if it's for men or women or both, I'll buy either/or.

I am looking for something unique or useful, not your run-of-the-mill scented candle (no offense to the scented candle makers on the forum).

Thank ye,

Austin

Take your pick. This is a store here in Greenwood. Everything they carry is made right here in Mississippi

It is officially the first day of the "off season" when there is an ongoing discussion of wedding shower gifts. :D

+1 on this. Also, this will give YOU certain bonuses as well.

1 - You will be able to go duck hunting with your buddy because his bride will think you are such a good person that you'll keep him out of trouble. (What she doesn't know won't hurt her.)
2 - It will go with everything because every delta girl loves that stuff.
3 - If his bride has a hot friend, you are golden.

When is the shower and how much do you want to spend? I'd imagine McCarty will be given by more than one person and may not stand out as much. You could have a kitchen knife commissioned by a MS knife maker, but this may be more than you want to spend and will take some lead time. There is also a guy in the delta (Rolling Fork?) that makes cotton spindle art. I know there are MS craftsmen that make both beautiful and functional wooden spoons, bowls, and cutting boards. This would be unique and useable. I know Henry Bufkin in Port Gibson makes some beautiful wooden bowls. Also, check the MS Craftsmen's guild website and MS Crafts center in Ridgeland for ideas. http://mscrafts.org. Their Facebook page also has some pics of craftsmen and their wares.
