My dealings with Darry Davis

Postby yourmanwm75 » Tue Apr 29, 2014 8:13 am

This guy lives right above Shaw Ms. He had 2 ski boats for sale and I bought one. He told me it had a electrical problem that he couldn't figure out and it keep burning up the starters. Boat was a 97 Manta Ray rough shape on the inside. Gave 3500 for it with him saying it runs good just needed a new starter and fix whatever electrical issues it had. I called myself checking the oil for water in the motor. I did notice it was way over full of oil. Didn't notice any water though. Remind you I'm not a mechanic. Get the boat back to Greenwood my buddy who is a body shop man and mechanic pulls the dipstick and says I told you to check for water. I tell him I did he says you see how it's green at the tip of the dipstick. Explains it's water. So we look at the starter realize it's loose and just tighten it down it spins over fine. Pretty sure this guy knew he was selling me a bad motor and loosened the starter so it would just grind on the flywheel. I look at the oil again and it looks like milk. Have pics and videos to prove this. Called him back within a hour of leaving his house and he is like where is this coming from. Well ill help you out. Call him back over the next few days to get no answer or text back. Then about a week later a text saying it was sold as is. I knew something was up with this guy cause his stories just didn't add up. Someone on this site actually sent me a message about 3 days after I bought this boat referring this guy. I'll let them step up on their own. He has another boat for sale on craigslist. 96 Armada for 4500 located in Cleveland Ms. You can actually see the boat I bought in one of the pics.

Good luck getting anything resolved on this issue sounds like the seller is crawfishing

when buying a $3500 ski boat what did you expect ? Your not a mechanic and didn't know the issues, what makes you think the seller knew about them ? To bad you couldn't get your buddy to ride over with you and look at it.

buyers beware nowadays more than ever - lots of dirty dogs out there.

I knew I was getting a 3500 dollar boat. He said he had ran the motor and I straight up asked if it had water in it. He said no that's the first thing he checks for also when buying a boat. I believe that why the starter was loose. You turn the motor over a few times it mixes the oil and water and turns milky looking. I've already got the boat fixed. Put a new motor new floor and upholstery in it. Just wanted everyone to know this guy is dishonest in my opinion. I'd happy gave 2500 knowing it needed a motor. Has a over 1500 dollar wake board rack on it. And the hull is in great shape. I feel like he got me for a grand. Not really even mad it's just lesson learned.

I have a list of things to check prior to purchasing a water craft. I sell it for $100 so you could've saved $900 by buying it up front. Send paypal to suckerhelper@paypal.com. :D

I'm feeling charitable...this one is on the house. I believe you checked the ones that are in bold pink.
