Boat motor question

I have a boat question. My motor wouldn't even turn over today, so I thought maybe a had left something on in the boat that was also tied to the motor battery. I switched batteries and it still wouldn't turn over. I fooled with it enough that I was convinced it was my starter, but something that confused me is that the trim wouldn't work either. I wouldn't think that the starter would have anything to do with the trim working so I was thinking it might be something else but I just don't know where to begin. Thanks

If it's remote steer, it may be the main wiring harness from the control box to the motor. Mine goofed up one time and it would try to crank the motor when I hit the trim. Turns out the female end that connects to the motor got pinched and the ends were shorting out on one another.

Does this happen to be a Suzuki?

I have heard of a common issue with Suzuki outboards with same symptoms.

Its a yamaha. Ended up being corroded wires where it hooks into the little terminal end. Cleaned and it worked properly. Just overlooked it. Thanks for help.
