General WMA Proposed Changes

Postby booger » Sat May 17, 2014 11:18 am

Anybody?

Below is the link to all PROPOSED changes for the upcoming season. I scoured through all of it and only see two significant changes:

--> No more camping permits. As I see it, first come first served in designated areas.

--> Interesting one,..........possession of a firearm absence of a hunting season is now legal. They are removing the "No firearms permitted during closed seasons" wording in the regulations. So soon, you will be able to legally carry your snake firearm or your bad guy firearm with you on a WMA. The old rule probably clashed with state law.

I didn't see any other important changes, important to duck hunters. I skipped any deer B.S.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on these changes.

So, no firearms when there is no open season means not hog hunting in the off season as well. That's a bad idea.
Looking for 2 duck calls from Dominic Serio of Greenwood (ones for Novacaine)

That's how it used to be teul2, sorta. No firearms during closed seasons. Hog "hunting" however, is only incidental while hunting some other specie, with weapons/calibers legal for that specie. I don't think you can technically "hog hunt".

Say you are "squirrel hunting" with a .22 magnum, and you encounter a hog, kablamoo legal. You can't bring your dirty thirty lever action and hog hunt, unless that is a legal weapon for something else that you are "hunting" on that specific WMA, (probably not). I usually have a .22 magnum ready and/or a primitive weapon with an orange vest crammed somewhere. That way (depending on time frame) I am either "squirrel hunting" or "deer hunting" if I encounter a hog. Because steel #3's is not the answer.

Now I reckon if that .44 mag is your snake gun/personal protection you can bring it off season, but not shoot a hog? I would imagine that if............... well.................... I'm not gonna say.

Dunno,but that's how I read it though. :?:

Someone will come along and clear this up.
