I'm really thinking of getting one of these for a particular farm -

its my understanding that they use a 2g network - and that 2g networks will not longer be available in 2016

anyone have any input on these cameras? or perhaps the future of cellular cams?

The future is in LTE service which would provide near real time capabilities (images and video), however I have not found a manufacturer that produces a camera with a 4G radio. Also, LTE network coverage in rural areas is hit or miss, especially outside of Mississippi.

looks like covert has a 3g model that just came out.

I'm going to wait and read some reviews

I have a 2014 covert. There is a 2-20 minute delay sometimes. Never faster than 1 minute. Usually in the 5-10 minute range. Other than that, I like it.

How much of a lapse are you getting?

I'm using mine for some theft issues and the 10 minute delay is a big head start. I have the AT&T sim card sending to Cspire. It will send usually within 1 minute when I'm within a mile of the camera.

I have thought about getting one of these but I wouldn't get any sleep because every time my phone beeped in the night I would have to get up and look and see what was on there.
