CWS Final

New topic so an MSU person can comment and it will not be seen as running down Ole Miss

The game last night between Virginia and Vandy was the opposite of everything the tourny has been so far. Virginia had 15 hits against Vandy pitching....15! I know Vandy pitched it alot different with the bigger lead and may have pitched to contact a little TOO much. Honestly for 8 innings I thought Virginia was the better team, but hey thats baseball. Beade come out and has his good stuff tonight it may be over. If he is off the way he has been the last few starts then we will see a game #3. Both teams threw some guys last night and no rest between games now so pitch counts mean much more.

Winds tonight in Omaha forecast to be out of the W at 3-7 mph. Tomorrow winds are expected to be light and variable. We may continue to see more offense as we did last night.

i thought UVA was a better team too. Vandy showed control at the plate, took advantage early with birdy while he had trouble to find the strike zone. I've now seen mike papi make plays and i'm thinking "damn, this guy" and then he boots the easiest grounder and it cost UVA a run. UVA was batting like 270 something as a team coming into the CWS. Anyone in Merica' would've said if UVA gets 8 runs on 15 hits, no way they loosing. I would've bet the house... and lost.

on a side note, to bad UVA wasn't that shaky on the hill against the rebs last saturday. oh well, that's baseball.

UVA lost that game on walks. They had 15 hits, while Vandy had 6. Most teams would've just quit after the 9 run Vandy inning. They fought back and probably should have won it. I question Papi bunting in the 8th with 0 outs. He had killed the ball all night. Whether it was a called bunt or selfless, who knows.

He has hit the ball hard several times with nothing to show for it. I know alot of guys have had some hard hit balls that resulted in outs in this tourny, but no one more than Papi.

Vandy wins and the SEC strength shows yet again. Virginia was very good. Those two teams could play 100 times and and would not suprise me if it came to a 50/50 split.

Good game last night.

As much as I wish we were playing last night, I think the two best teams were playing for it all.

Congrats Vandy.
