I recently bought a 17ft G3 boat and was wondering how to go about building a blind for it. I really can't afford an Avery or similiar type commercial oneL was hoping to make one myself. My brother built one for his boat using pvc. He took pvc fittings, cut them in half lengthwise and they snap on the gunnel of his boat, then sticks pvc pipe in the fittings and goes on from there. Problem is his gunnels are round and mine are flat. a pvc fitting won't snap on it. Was wondering if anyone out there had any info they could share. Sure would be appreiciated!

have you looked at the fex blind by wiley products i think they are around 350-400 and are awesome that is still alot of money but i have found that i end up spending more money in the end when i try to make something but some people do better just thought i would pass it on

I've hunted out of the avery and ugly duck and several others but the flex-blind is still my favorite. Easy to set up, and operate. Almost idiot proof, almost. It works in cane or timber. Been hunting out of it for two years now and would recommend it to anyone and everyone. There is also a guy out of Corinth that is making some of his own. It's a good design. He hasn't gotten the copyright for it yet, but is suppose to have it this year before season.

I built my own blind out of 3/4" square steel tubing. I looked at all the blinds on the market and gleaned ideas from all of them and added my own improvements to the final product. If you like I can e-mail you some pictures all I need is an e-mail address.

Marshman, I would stay away from a PVC blind. You may be overheard by other hunters cursing before daylight. I know of 2 different hunters that went the PVC route and regretted it. If you are going to build your own, go with square tubing or electrical conduit at the least. There is a guy in Greenwood that custom builds the Avery style blind to fit your boat. He is a lot cheaper than Avery and builds a better blind, all welded. If you would like the name and number, PM me and I will PM you back.

I made a PVC blind once......it lasted all of 30 seconds..
One of my buddies still reminds me what a nice blind that was....

Ditto what Don said. We have a couple of these blinds and they work great.

Thanks for all the info fellows, I appreciate it alot. All good advice.. Now I got a start at least. But may be back for more tips before this is through!
