well, ducks and bucks are hard to beat, but when you kill over a 100 green heads in your favorite duck hole and two 120 class bucks with a bow on the same piece of property. gotta love it.

Ya, I couldn't cut it. I become bored out of my mind while sitting on a deer stand. Luckily, I haven't had to endure sitting on one for about 6 years now. Besides that, I have gotten to where I just don't even want to shoot one anymore. The only reasone I even opened this topic is because you had Mallards in the title. Ironically, I have seen the most big bucks of my life while duck hunting.

I would personally rather wingshoot. And with a good opportunity to dove hunt all three seasons, and having duck season too, not too mention the occasional snow goose hunts with some real experts, I won't have to resort to sitting on a deer stand ever. If things get really bad, I would prefer to go marsh fishing down in LA.

I love to hunt ducks too, and believe me I have spent hours and hours in a lock-on watching tugboats go by wondering if Im wasting my time or not.
For some reason though the thought of a 150 class deer walking by within bow range makes me have more patience. For me, one p/y with bow is by far better than a several 5man limits of mallards

I used to deer hunt with bow and gun, never really got into muzzleloader though. I have never killed a pope and young class deer, not even close. Never anything bigger than an eight and always with very small spreads. Back in my high school days I used to deer hunt every day until the season closed, before school and on the weekends. I would only duck hunt some afternoons and once deer season closed. (Don't tell anyone it might ruin my reputation   ) Somewhere along the lines I just lost interest in chasing deer. I agree that it is an accomplishment to take a pope and young class deer, but to simply kill a deer, that can be done by almost any yahoo. I have not deer hunted in 6-8 years for sure and probably won't start back up unless they close duck season all together. That being said, good luck this bow season, watch out for the skunks, poison ivy and hornets nest and hope you get a big one!!!!!!!!1

i like both, killed both on the same piece of property as well. I'd have to say though that i've killed a limit of mallards alot more than i've killed p/y bucks, so....

the only thing i have killed with gun in the last three years are game birds, if it has hair and antlers i would rather stick that muzzy behind his shoulder at 20 steps

Deer hunting is for sissies who can't hack it.....

I quit deer hunting w/primitive and guns, because there was no challenge other than how to keep my butt from killing me from sitting on it....

Lazy man sport... you sleep in, you ride a four-wheeler to a baited field and shoot an animal that has the brains that god gave a friggin rock!!

I quit deer hunting the day I followed a nice buck through the woods for 6 hours......made a nice, long, slow stalk, checkin' the wind, watchin' his ear tips.......timing my moves just right, waiting for airplanes to fly over and mask any sound I thought I might make.........it was a memorable stalk on a worthy trophy buck.

Then I slipped within range........and slapped him on his booty with my bare hand.

It use to be fun and exciting when I was 14 too, buddy.
