This position interacts with all aspects of Purchasing, to include supplier sourcing and selection, purchase negotiations, and evaluating supplier performance.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
· Conducts review of orders for accuracy, including review of specifications, delivery dates, tests, drawings, required certifications, duty certification, and federal sales tax.
· Verifies orders against customers’ purchase orders.
· Ensures all drawings, test reports, and material certifications are received and approved.
· Liaises with Planning to verify inventory levels
· Liaises with Engineering to obtain order specifications
· Processes RFQs and RFIs to support company initiatives
· Material expediting and sustaining follow up with supplier base
· Orders and maintains non-inventory supplies, equipment, and services
QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:
· Three to five years of continuous work experience in Purchasing
· Traditionally trained procurement specialist with previous buying authority of $200K+
· Prior work experience with SAP R/3
· APICS Certification or CPIM Designation preferred
· Experience negotiating capital improvement projects is a plus
· Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
· Self-motivated with ability to eliminate waste in standard work processes and maximize productivity
· Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (6S, LEAN Manufacturing, CPI, TQM)
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
