Those that have them, what type of "real world" gas milage are you getting?

Looking at an 06 V6 4x4

Had a 2wd. It got 18 mpg with mixed driving. About 21-22 highway. 4wd will be less than that of course.

i have a '13 v6 4x4. I'm getting 19-20.

Still have an 06 2WD. Getting 19 in just about any circumstance, 21 or better if its all interstate.

Those with the v6, any regrets note getting the v8?

None...fuel economy will suffer with boat, trailer, etc but no issues with power in my opinion.

V6 has plenty of power. If you "need" the extra HP of the V8, you need to buy something different. If you are going to be hauling a camper or big ski boat, the 4runners suspension is going to be the limiting factor.

I haul maybe a 1654 in the winter time and that's about it. Less than 1% of my driving is hauling.

It will haul your boat fine. That being said, ever Toyota I've owned hasn't gotten as good of fuel mileage as I thought. Real fuel mileage on a v6 is around 16-18 city, 18 being rare. They do not like a downshifting pass and stay off the skinny pedal. I've had friends looking for a 4x4 4runner and they can't find a decent deal on one. I convinced one to get the GX460 lexus and he could find a better deal in that(and it has rear lockers). He was looking for a truck for his wife and to pass down to him as a hunting truck. You can come drive my 4x4 Toyota that gets 12mpg a while if you want to appreciate 16-18!

I would get the v8 if it was me. The difference in gas mileage is only 1-2 mpg. I have a 2006 v8 4runner and I average around 18mpg, mixed town and highway. The 4.7L 2uzfe is one of the best engines toyota has made. This engine was in the lexus suv's for almost a decade and lexus vehicles are the best on the road and there is no comparison. Go to ih8mud.com and check out the miles on some of the 100 series landcruisers, all of them have the 4.7l v8. Basically a bulletproof engine, just change the timing belt every 100K.

Anything you want to know about toyotas is on 1h8mud. I have an 80 series with w 1fz-fe 4.5L straight 6. 11mpg's while we are talking about gas mileage. But its fully locked front, center, and rear from the factory and full time 4wd.

+1 I have 252,000 miles on my 100 series. I average about 17mpg in it. My tundra with the 5.7L averages about 14mpg. Also has 180,000 miles. Can't beat a Toyota! I've had two 4Runners and both were bullet proof.
